There is a point where doing the work stops feeling like discipline. It’s simply who you are. #BuiltDifferent #MicaMountain #Thunderbolts #StrengthAndConditioning

No one does it better than the Morales Brothers. But just to be clear, this is a celebration of last year's award, 2024 season. I am still incredibly proud to represent Southern Arizona at a national event like this with Pat Nugent and Zach Ortiz.

It's obvious that whichever college signs @MicaMountainFB Class of 2026 prospect @Riley_no13 will be very fortunate. Carson, a significant contributor to the Thunderbolts winning consecutive 4A state titles, led a contingent of five Southern Arizona players in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl at Arlington, Texas, on Monday. He earned the Defensive MVP honor of the game. Tanque Verde's @PayneCooper7 also had a 50-yard fumble return for a TD in the game.

Updated the story with comments from three coaches John Kashner helped mold -- Pat Nugent, Dustin Peace and Pat Ryden.
Peace mentioned about Kashner:
"Coach teaching us one last lesson that life is precious."
Very sad news with the sudden passing of legendary coach John Kashner, 74, yesterday. His impact on the local coaching scene was immense with understudies such as Pat Nugent, Jorge Mendivil, Dustin Peace and Pat Ryden while at Flowing Wells. Had the honor to report on some of his Flowing Wells teams and was fortunate to speak with him at Nugent's recent retirement ceremony. Bless his soul and his family and friends during this difficult time.

My advice to all the local high school athletes both near and far, ignore anonymous message board cowards. They never saw you play, no matter how many times they post they did. They don't know about your off field "issues" because you have none. They definitely don't know about your grades - that would spark a civil lawsuit. They slowly moved from attacking professional athletes, to college athletes and coaches, to high school kids, to protect a narrative. They never give back to your community - not one cent. They have never lifted up a local athlete. The people who matter know. Just do your thing.
