With abundant inventory and no restrictions on selling, Kunz’ work was ideal for commercialization and valorization by the market. 👇

Kunz stated the works were diagnostic and prescriptive for individual patients. Others, some kind of research. Does the healing effect carry over to the new owners? Very little about her process has come to light so far.

The problem with the valuation of af Klint’s works at auction is illuminated by this upcoming Kandinsky auction: $60-80 million estimate. It has a nice provenance, but the value is out of whack. Its function as a magnet for capital outshines the art’s actual impact. 👇

The incredible Lovell Beach House comes up for sale, first time ever. Schindler’s 1926 beach front home for naturopath Dr. Philip Lovell and family is a masterpiece of early California modernism. 👇

Another af Klint comes to auction: $600-800k estimated seems like a bargain for this early work. I think they’re pricing it conservatively hoping for growth in the actual bidding. They’re looking for a new benchmark here.

Surely we’ll now see the faster movement of af Klint’s paintings—outside of the Paintings for the Temple—come to market. Great hopes the soon-to-be-reformulated Foundation will direct some of this lucre towards funding a vision of the Temple, finally realized. link 👇
