๐จ๐จ When we take antibiotics we assume they'll kill the bad bugs but won't affect us directly. In our new story @NatureMicrobiol , we found that's not always the case and developed a tool, CompoRes, to identify these direct effects on the host /1

The genocide charge against Israel is a lie. It always has been. But thereโs a purpose to the lie โ and a reason that the Left dictates that its leaders repeat it, over and over again.

Michal Breker and I joined forces to see how her Chlamydomonas and my plant-associeted microbes interact. This led us down a long and winding road, with 3 amazing PhDs and help from many friends. This is the first product of this collaboration.

We, the Weizmann Institute of Science community, deeply mourn the passing of Prof. Ada Yonath of the Instituteโs Chemical and Structural Biology Department. Prof. Yonath pioneered the study of the ribosome, the cellโs protein factory, and was awarded the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her research in this field. Her decades-long scientific journey led to an understanding of how various antibiotics work, helping pave the way for the development of new antibiotics and the fight against antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Yonath, the first Israeli woman scientist to win a Nobel Prize, also received dozens of other awards and honors, including the Israel Prize in Chemistry and the Wolf Prize in Chemistry. Prof. Yonath exemplified how scientific vision, the courage to choose a major scientific question and unwavering dedication to its pursuit can lead to extraordinary achievements and expand the boundaries of knowledge for the future of humanity.
May her memory be a blessing.

Lettuce is harvested before flowering, so we asked: could we manipulate strigolactone biosynthesis to delay leaf senescence without unwanted branching? That motivated this study, but we discovered much more along the way. doi.org/10.64898/2026.08.27.โฆ

A stress response can be a great starting point for uncovering new biology! By following genes regulated during the chloroplast unfolded protein response, weโre discovering factors involved in chloroplast homeostasis. Hereโs the first one we characterized: pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.26โฆ

I am bewildered, and not very impressed, by the visceral, naked, irrational hatred spat out by some defenders of Jason Arday. If a Cambridge professor is accused of being an unqualified charlatan, the accusation might be racially motivated. On the other hand it might not, depending on the evidence. The correct question to ask is not, โWhat is the colour of his skinโ but โIs it in fact true that he is an unqualified charlatan?โ Please examine the evidence before leaping to the assumption of racism.
As for the idea that journalists โpiled in on himโ and โhounded him to his deathโ, most attacks were against Cambridge University. Jason himself was widely regarded as an unfortunate victim of foolish promotion way beyond his ability to cope. In appointing him to a professorship for which he was manifestly unqualified โ in ludicrously describing him as โthe best in the worldโ โ certain senior members of the university showed a level of patronising condescension towards black people that could fairly be described as racism, while at the same time making him tragically vulnerable to such attacks as came his way.
