Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
It is multifaceted and part of everyday life, whether that’s in our homes, schools, workplaces, sports clubs, friendship groups or wider communities.
We all carry out dynamic risk assessments every day, often without even realising it. We recognise when something doesn’t feel right, we listen, we assess the situation and we decide what to do next.
Professional safeguarding builds on those instincts. It means documenting risk assessments, reviewing dynamic risk assessments as circumstances change, recording concerns, following clear referral pathways and putting the welfare of the individual at the centre of every decision.
Safeguarding is not a tick box exercise. It is a continuous process.
