What a wonderful little gem we have here in Sherwood Forest!
I popped into Paper Petals By Lisa in Edwinstowe and was blown away by how beautiful the shop is. Lisa is incredibly talented, and it was lovely to see her and see the gorgeous things she has created.
I couldn’t leave without buying a beautiful vase, which now sits proudly in my front room 💐
It’s always a pleasure to support our brilliant local businesses, and I would encourage everyone to pop in and have a look for themselves. You won’t be disappointed.
Thank you, Lisa, for such a lovely visit ❤️
A year ago, I lost my dad to pulmonary fibrosis.
This week, I hosted an event in Parliament with @ActionPFcharity, alongside my family and a wonderful support group from Nottingham.
That support group helped me and my family through some of the hardest days of our lives. I know first-hand how much it means to have people around you who understand what you’re going through, who listen, and who help you feel less alone.
This is so much more than a campaign for me. It’s personal.
There is currently no cure for pulmonary fibrosis, and more than 70,000 people in the UK are living with this devastating disease.
I know the heartbreak of watching someone you love suffer. I know how desperately families need hope, support and better treatment options.
That’s why I’m determined to do everything I can to improve treatment and care for people living with pulmonary fibrosis.
We’re taking a letter to the Prime Minister, calling on him to support our campaign and help make an additional drug available to patients, which is currently out for consultation with NICE.
No family should have to feel that there is nothing more that can be done. We owe it to everyone living with this disease, and to the families who love them, to keep fighting for better treatment and a better future.
For my dad, for the families who supported us, and for every family affected ❤️
Last night in Parliament, I once again raised the importance of protecting mineworkers’ pensions, urging the Government to use the Budget to secure a fair agreement on pension surpluses and ensure bonus pensions are protected and rise with inflation.
Former mineworkers and their families in Sherwood Forest deserve fairness and security after a lifetime of hard work. With many now facing ill health, there is no time to waste 👇
➡️Tonight in Parliament, I spoke up for former mineworkers and their families across Sherwood Forest, urging the Government to use the upcoming Budget to secure a fair agreement on pension surpluses and ensure bonus pensions are protected and rise with inflation.
❤️Our former mineworkers earned their pensions through years of hard and dangerous work. They are deferred wages, and our mining families deserve every penny they are entitled to.
➡️With many former miners now facing ill health, industrial diseases, many have passed away - there is no time to waste.
➡️Thank you to constituents who contacted me ahead of the debate. Our mining communities helped power this country, and I will keep fighting for the fairness, dignity and security they deserve.
🌍 Climate Emergency Briefing in Edwinstowe 🌍
It was good to attend the Climate Emergency Briefing in Edwinstowe, organised by the wonderful Emma, a local resident. Thank you for bringing people together for such an important conversation.
I know I have been invited to similar events across Sherwood Forest, and this was the first I have been able to attend around parliamentary business.
It was great to hear from local people, listen to their concerns and ideas, and see different generations involved. Climate change affects us all, and decisions made today will shape the world our children and grandchildren inherit.
These conversations matter. They help us understand the challenges, hear the evidence and discuss the action needed to protect our communities and our environment.
Many of you have contacted me asking me to join the parliamentary call for a national Climate Emergency Briefing, and I can confirm that I have. We need informed discussion and a shared understanding of the urgency of the climate emergency to help turn concern into meaningful action.
Thank you to Emma and everyone who came along and contributed.
Restoring Maternity Care in North East Devon 💜
In my role as National Maternity Adviser, I have been working with the Secretary of State and NHS England on the safe reopening of the maternity unit in North East Devon.
Last week, I met with @IanRoomeMP to update him on the significant progress we have made. I hope to be able to share very positive news soon.
Women having to travel hours for maternity care was never acceptable. Families deserve access to safe care, with the staffing and support needed to deliver it.
There appears to be some confusion over dates, so let me be clear: we are in an extremely positive position. I will keep you updated as soon as there is more to share.
Compassionate and safe care for all women and babies remains at the heart of my work.
It was a pleasure to visit Nightingale Nursing & Care Home in Edwinstowe. A beautiful place with such a warm and welcoming atmosphere 💜
I especially enjoyed sitting and chatting with residents, hearing their stories and getting to know them. Taking the time to listen and share a laugh is such a lovely part of visits like these.
It was also good to talk with family members and staff about the future of care, hearing their experiences and thoughts on how we can better support residents, families and those working in the sector.
The staff go above and beyond for the people they care for. Their kindness, patience and dedication make such a difference, helping residents feel comfortable, respected and at home.
Having worked in a care home myself, I know how much heart goes into this work. Our care workers do an incredible job and deserve to know how valued they are.
Thank you to the residents, families and the whole team at Nightingale for making me so welcome.
🕯️💜 As the world comes together for the Wave of Light, we remember all the babies who will never be forgotten.
My thoughts are with every family affected by baby loss. Tonight we honour the lives of their precious babies and hold them in our hearts.
You are remembered, you are loved, and you are never alone.

Five years ago today, Sir David Amess was killed while serving the people of Southend West.
I knew David as a kind, tireless colleague who dedicated his life to public service. His death was a terrible reminder of the risks faced by those in public life, and of our responsibility to ensure that everyone can serve their communities without fear.
Today, we remember David’s extraordinary commitment to the people he represented, and the lasting loss felt by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Families have carried the grief. It is time the system carried the responsibility.
As the Government’s National Maternity and Neonatal Adviser, I was proud to secure a Commons debate on Baby Loss during Baby Loss Awareness Week to ensure bereaved and harmed families are heard, their experiences are not forgotten, and their calls for accountability cannot be ignored.
During the debate, I spoke about the families who have fought tirelessly for answers, accountability and change after losing their precious babies.
We must honour their courage by listening, learning and taking action to prevent avoidable loss and harm. Every family deserves answers, and every baby must be remembered.

Hucknall residents deserve to have their voices heard. Our community and our countryside are worth fighting for.
I’m pleased to have @MayorEastMids Claire Ward standing with us and backing our campaign to turn Whyburn Farm and Misk Hills into a Country Park.
We’re working hard together to challenge the proposed development, hold those responsible to account and fight for the future our community deserves.
I will keep standing up for Hucknall residents and fighting to protect Whyburn 🌳
I’m outraged by the decision to appoint Jason Zadrozny, a councillor convicted of fraud and tax evasion, to Ashfield District Council’s planning committee.
Hucknall residents have been let down for far too long. This decision is an insult to the honest, hardworking people of our community who deserve better from those elected to serve them.
I’m calling for Jason Zadrozny to stand down, and for the law to change so that councillors convicted of serious offences of this nature cannot continue making decisions on behalf of the communities they have let down.

‼️My statement on the appointment of Councillor Jason Zadrozny to the Planning Committee at Ashfield District Council. Enough is enough - an investigation into the council is paramount. 👇
🇵🇱🇬🇧 This Sunday I attended the annual Polish Cross Memorial Service at Watchwood Plantation in Calverton. The annual service commemorates the service, bravery and lives of Polish Air Force personnel - Flying Officer Jan Gebicki, Sgt Edward Morawa and Sgt Tadeusz Egierski. It always feels like such an honour to be there.
This year, as they do every year, Jan Gebicki’s family came together to honour his memory. The service was conducted by Revd Michael Taylor - he has been conducting the service for 21 years and the tragic crash holds a special place in his heart, as he told us, he was born locally just ten weeks after the brave pilots lost their lives fighting for our freedom.
On 13 October 1940 Battle of Britain skirmishes were continuing in the skies. That evening 300 Polish Squadron (established at RAF Bramcote, Nottinghamshire on 1 July 1940) were tasked with flying to attack Hitler’s invasion barges at Calais. At 17.40hrs on 13 October 1940 six Fairey Battles took from from their new base at RAF Swinderby, led by Flying Officer Jan Gebicki (piloting Flight L5499). They reached Calais docks at around 19.50hrs. They released their bombs, observing detonations across all target basins.
On return to home airspace in the United Kingdom they found weather conditions had deteriorated, and only two aircraft managed to land at RAF Swinderby (at around 21:30hrs). RAF Swinderby then closed due to a blacked out German bomber attacking the airfield, which damaged two RAF aircraft on the ground. The remaining four aircraft from 300 Polish Squadron were diverted to RAF Newton, where two of them managed to land at 22.30hrs before severe fog closed in.
At around 23.00hrs the last two aircraft that were circling RAF Newton received a radio message to divert to RAF Hucknall, a further 13 miles away. The aircraft had now been in the air for over five and a half hours. Shortly after L5499 turned to the new heading they crashed in Watchwood Plantation killing the pilot and his crew. The second aircraft (L5426) force-landed at Sherwood Lodge, just under two miles west but the crew managed to walk away unscathed.
L5499 was the first operational loss of 300 Polish Squadron.
This was to be the final operation for the Fairey Battle light bombers with 300 Squadron as bad weather prevented further activity in the coming weeks. On 18 October 300 Polish Squadron’s Fairey Battles were replaced with Vickers Wellington medium bombers and soon then replaced with Avro Lancaster heavy bombers.
Jan Gebicki, Edward Morawa and Tadeusz Egierski flew as one of 15 Polish Air Force squadrons as part of the Royal Air Force. They flew and fought for our freedom and our future. Nations together fighting against fascism. It was a huge personal honour to pay my respects on behalf of the UK Government and importantly the constituency of Sherwood Forest. This story should always be remembered.
We will always remember them.🎖️
Thank you to Calverton & Woodborough Royal British Legion for helping to keep their memories alive by organising the memorial service each year.

Really grateful to @AndyMacNaeMP for bringing forward such an important and deeply moving debate during Baby Loss Awareness Week.
As always, my heartfelt thanks to @MichelleWelshMP for continuing to give our babies such a powerful voice, honouring their lives and legacies through her tireless work in Nottingham and beyond.
It was also encouraging to see @YvetteCooperMP attend, listen and hear first-hand the experiences, concerns and calls for change that must shape the future of maternity care.
Not a day goes by when I don't think about my precious daughter Wynter. Her life, like those of so many other babies who should still be here, continues to inspire the fight for meaningful change. Their lives mattered. Their legacies matter. And we owe it to them to ensure that lessons are not simply heard, but acted upon.

I haven’t said much during baby loss awareness week because I have recently felt so despondent at maternity care in the UK but I do want to say @MichelleWelshMP thank you for your powerful speech at the baby loss debate and for representing our family. I cannot agree more with you regarding accountability for the 33 senior leaders that has such low regard for improving the system they didn’t speak to the Ockenden review.
