Friends, in just two days, Christians were murdered on two continents.
On Friday, gunmen opened fire on a funeral at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Karak, Jordan, and killed nine people. On Saturday, armed men attacked Orthodox churches and homes in Oromia, Ethiopia, and killed more than forty.
These are not statistics. They are our brothers and sisters, members of the mystical Body of Christ. When Saul set out to destroy the Church, the risen Jesus asked him, “Why are you persecuting me?” The Lord is still being persecuted in these victims of anti-Christian violence.
Christianity is by far the most persecuted religion in the world today. Those of us who worship in comfort have to ask what the deaths of these martyrs demand of us. At the very least, they demand that we pray for them, learn their names, press our leaders to act, and refuse to look away.
The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.

Happy Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.
Every October, someone shows up in the comments to explain that the Rosary is "vain repetition."
Fifty Hail Marys? Repetitive.
Meanwhile, the angels in Revelation say "Holy, holy, holy" day and night. Forever. Nobody calls that vain.
The words of the Hail Mary aren't ours.
Gabriel said the first line. Elizabeth said the second. Scripture wrote the prayer.
We just kept praying it.
"But you're worshipping Mary."
No. We're asking her to pray for us. You ask your Bible study to pray for you. We ask the woman who carried God.
And every single mystery of the Rosary is about Jesus. His birth. His suffering. His death. His rising. Mary just walks us through it.
In 1571, Christendom was outnumbered at Lepanto. Pope St. Pius V asked all of Europe to pick up the beads. The fleet won. This feast exists because of that day.
So yes. We'll keep repeating it.
Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us. 📿

Joseph Stalin’s daughter, Svetlana Alliluyeva, converted to Catholicism and died as a Catholic
She was secretly baptized into the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow in May 1962
In 1967 she defected from the USSR and settled for periods in the US and in Europe
While living in the West she was influenced by reading spiritual writings, interacting with Catholic families, and finding solace in the Eucharist.
She was received into the Catholic Church in 1982.
Later in life she remarked that “the Eucharist has given me life" and that her father "would have shot me for what I have done"

After thirty years of atheism, belief in God came soon after I realized that the love I felt for my wife and children wasn’t sufficiently explained by evolutionary pressures, a burst of oxytocin in my brain, or any other naturalistic account. There was something supernatural about this love that simply didn’t fit within a materialistic worldview.
That realization opened me to belief. But it isn’t why I believe in God.
I believe in God because I became convinced by the arguments. I read William Lane Craig, C. S. Lewis, Aquinas, G. K. Chesterton, and others, and realized that the versions of their arguments I’d encountered through Dawkins and others were sad little straw men that never addressed the sophistication of what these thinkers actually argued.
It was the most extraordinary experience of the scales falling from my eyes that I’ve ever had. I had made an idol of atheism and discovered it to be as false as the golden calf in the desert.
So when I consider the atheist position now, and when I encounter atheists, I know where they’re coming from. I know how they feel and what they think. I know they can be good people even when they disagree with me.
But I also know there are basically two things keeping them from seeing the light of God: a hardened heart or a lack of understanding.
I don’t mean this patronizingly, and I don’t yet know how to help someone overcome either. In my own case, that opening came purely as a gift of God’s grace.
The only thing I can say to those who don’t believe is that He is there if you seek Him. He is there in the love you have for your children. He is there in the kindness you feel toward strangers. He is there in your ability to make sense of the world. He is there in the logical consistency of mathematics.
He is everywhere for those with eyes to see.

Many people are rediscovering the Gospel and embracing the faith against the backdrop of a society marked by a deeply secularized culture. With pastoral tenderness and fraternal charity, we must recognize, welcome, and protect the small flame that the Holy Spirit has kindled in the darkness of the night. #ApostolicJourney #France vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…
It was one of the most moving moments of Pope Leo XIV’s Prayer Vigil with young people at the Stade de France.
Hundreds of actors represented France’s more than 1,700 saints and blesseds, creating a striking image of a true “army of holiness.”
Pope Leo XIV was deeply moved and, in a moment that touched everyone present, even wiped away a tear.
The moment culminated in a grand fireworks celebration.

I have never had more people who are not Catholic tell me what it means to be Catholic than since I started openly talking about my faith.
It is honestly wild.
People who do not go to Mass telling me what the Mass means.
People who reject the Church telling me what the Church teaches.
People who have not opened the Catechism telling me I am practicing Catholicism wrong.
People who mock the Pope telling me what Catholics are supposed to believe about the Pope.
People who do not believe in confession, the Eucharist, apostolic succession, sacred tradition, or the authority of the Church suddenly becoming experts on Catholicism the second a practicing Catholic speaks.
No.
You are allowed to disagree with me.
You are allowed to dislike the Catholic Church.
You are allowed to think I am wrong.
But you do not get to redefine my faith for me because the real version makes you uncomfortable.
Catholicism is not whatever opinion happens to fit your politics, your worldview, or your personal grievances with the Church.
It is a faith with doctrine.
With authority.
With sacraments.
With 2,000 years of history.
With saints who died rather than deny it.
And no, being Catholic does not mean I think every priest is perfect, every bishop is wise, every Pope is beyond criticism, or every decision made inside the Vatican is good.
Catholics know better than anyone that the Church is made of sinners.
That does not make the faith false.
It makes the need for Christ painfully obvious.
So if you are not Catholic and want to ask me questions, ask.
If you genuinely want to understand, I will talk to you all day.
But if you are going to lecture me about my own faith while rejecting the very Church you are explaining to me, save it.
I am not Catholic because it is fashionable.
I am not Catholic because it is easy.
I am Catholic because I believe it is true.
And the more seriously I take that, the less interested I become in letting people who do not practice it tell me how I should.

Dear Jordan. I grew up protestant my whole life. Read the Bible virtually everyday since 6th grade. Read lots of Luther, Calvin, MacArthur, Sproul, etc.
In 2017, I began reading the ancient Christians, and realized they were Catholic. Then I read the Catholic Church’s teachings as articulated by HER. That’s when I realized virtually everything I’d heard about Catholic belief—especially with regard to Mary—was false.
Catholics do not, and have never worshipped Mary. Worship involves sacrifice, and Christian worship is and has always been the sacrifice of the Eucharist—Christ’s sacrifice offered to the Father—and that is only and everywhere offered to God alone. NEVER Mary. That would be blasphemy and idolatry. She is a creature—the most exalted of God’s creature, but a creature nonetheless.
Nevertheless, we venerate Her as the New Eve, the New Ark of the Covenant, the Daughter of Zion, and the Queen of the Messianic Kingdom of Her Son. As such, She is the chief prayer warrior of Christ’s Kingdom. As She herself said in the Magnificat in Luke, “My soul magnifies the Lord.” That is Her role. She always and everywhere brings people closer to Her son. That’s why so many Marian apparitions over the millennia have brought so many new converts, or increased devotion to Christ.
Since devoting my life to Her service, I have never known or loved Christ more. I’ve never had as much victory over sin. I’ve never been as willing to do whatever must be done to attain heaven. Because Mary is a goddess and I worship Her? Banish the thought. That would horrify me and Her. Rather, no one is as united to Her Son as She is. That’s why Her prayers are so efficacious. “The prayer of a righteous man avails much.” She is the only creature in history that, with God the Father, can refer to Jesus as “our Son.” That intimacy with Christ is why I venerate Her, and how She has brought me closer to Him than ever before.
