Nearly 11 million meals reached civilians through organized channels, not curated photo ops. The truth is simple but inconvenient, this was never about helping people. It was about being seen helping people. Humanitarian work does not need a spotlight. It needs infrastructure, coordination, and integrity. Theatrics do not feed the hungry. Logistics do.

הערות על נתניהו שמסביר שהוא עצמו לא היה בקונספציה מול חמאס, אבל, אבוי, אי אפשר היה לגייס את הציבור בישראל לאבחנותיו המדויקות.
1. נתניהו התגאה בהסדרה עם חמאס ובכך שהוא נמנע מעימותים מיותרים ומלחמות. הוא הציג את זה כדוקטרינה. נכתבו פה מאמרי פרשנות מפארים עליו בהקשר זה. פרסמתי לפני כחודש שנתניהו הזהיר בקבינט המלחמה - אחרי 7 באוקטובר - שכניסה קרקעית לעזה תוביל לאלפי חיילים הרוגים. גלנט, איזנקוט וגנץ וצה"ל היו צריכים לדחוק אותו.
2. נתניהו אחראי אישית להתעצמות חמאס בתקופתו, הוא עיצב את כל מכלול היחסים עם משטר חמאס - ממזוודות הכסף ועד ההפרדה במבצעים צבאיים בין חמאס לג'יהאד האסלמי. הוא לא היה שבוי בקונספציה; הוא אבי הקונספציה.
3. מנהיגות היא לא משיכת כתפיים ופרשנות מהצד. אם מנהיג חושב שחייבים לחסל את משטר חמאס (או לפחות להחליש אותו משמעותית) הוא אמור לפעול. זו בעצם בעיית הבעיות של ביבי. מעבר לכל דמגוגיה שלו - הוא לא מסוגל להניע מהלכים שפורצים את הגבולות המלאכותיים של חשיבה מקובעת ומוטעית. הוא מתמכר לגבולות האלה. חשבת שצריך להפיל את חמאס. נבחרת על זה. שתקת? לא הצלחת? אתה ה-אחראי. כראש ממשלה.
4. כמובן שהוא נוקט בדמגוגיה שטחית בדרך, ומציג את זה כברירה בינארית: לא לעשות כלום ולהעביר מזוודות כסף, או לכבוש את עזה. ואז הוא מגיע למסקנה שכיבוש עזה לא היה נכנס למסגרת הקונצנזוס הישראלי או העולמי. אבל באמצע, בדרך, היו המון אלטרנטיבות אחרות שהוא זנח. לפני שבועיים פרסמתי בטור שלי את החלטת הקבינט מ-2014 (!) לפני חומת מגן, סיכום של ראש הממשלה - להכין תכנית להפלת משטר חמאס. לא נעשה דבר. כאשר בכיר במל"ל שאל אם צריך לעשות משהו, אמרו לו שזה סתם, לא רציני.
5. סתם, לא רציני, זה מה שהיה פה בראשות הממשלה. וככה זה גם נראה.

I can’t imagine why our government has allowed this to continue for decades. Such subversive influence operations pose a great national security threat. Kfir Bibas was abducted from his home by Hamas on October 7th. His 1st birthday is today. Perhaps all those people who have been so vocal about this conflict can ask why Hamas don’t simply release him now?
