π Gaelic Games OFF-SEASON CONDITIONING π
The off-season is a great opportunity to build the engine for next year! πͺ
Hereβs a simple pitch-based conditioning drill that can be incorporated into pre-season preparation.
πΉ Block 1: 45m hard run / 45m easy run
πΉ Block 2: 100m hard run / 100m easy run
πΉ Block 3: 65m hard run / 65m easy run
β±οΈ Complete each block continuously for 4 minutes. Take 2 minutes rest between each 4 minutes and repeat a 2nd time
Coaching points:
β
Hard runs at a strong, controlled pace.
β
Easy runs used for active recovery.
β
Focus on good running mechanics and consistency.
β
Progress the volume and intensity gradually
π― The goal: Build aerobic fitness, improve recovery between high-intensity efforts and develop the physical foundation needed for the demands of Gaelic football and hurling.
Remember, the off-season isn't about doing more for the sake of it β it's about building smart, recovering well and arriving at pre-season ready to go.
