This is the tomb of Shehu Usman Dan Fodio, visited by Fulani from different parts of the world. Where visitors direct prayers to the deceased, seek supernatural assistance, or offer acts of worship to the dead, such practices contradict Tawheed and are considered shirk in Islam. Demanding cows or money in the name of the deceased also deserves scrutiny. They are quick to label Hausa ancestors as Maguzawa, yet practices that raise serious questions about Tawheed continue among some of their own people. In 2026, these are the issues our clerics should be addressing with knowledge and sincerity, alongside the insecurity and terrorism devastating our communities. Yet some would rather attack Hausa Zallah than confront these difficult questions, while remaining silent about wrongdoing among their own kinsmen.
