Even after years on the job in energy, safety skills need regular practice.
In this video, energy workers from Rivne region's Korets team practise an emergency shutdown of a 10 kV overhead power line. The drill involves creating a deliberate short circuit using flexible copper wire to trigger disconnection – a procedure for trained professionals when power must be cut urgently, including if someone suffers an electric shock. Regular drills help crews assess the situation quickly, work together and respond under pressure.
Children across Kharkiv region are creating guardian angels, charms and paintings for Kharkivoblenergo’s “Talisman of Light” contest.
Their works will feature in an Energy Workers’ Day exhibition, a heartfelt thank-you to those who keep the region’s lights on ⚡️
📸 Kharkivoblenergo
Today, we are a country where light is priceless.
In Donetsk region, three energy workers were killed by guided aerial bombs while inspecting heating networks ahead of winter. In Kharkiv region, another energy worker was killed in shelling.
Across frontline regions, energy workers risk their lives every day to keep homes lit and warm, under the constant threat of further strikes.
Our deepest condolences to their families. We mourn our colleagues 🕯
Energy workers held electrical safety lessons for schoolchildren at 62 educational institutions across Khmelnytskyi region.
Children learned how to recognise electrical hazards, respond to emergencies and stay safe near power lines. They also saw the protective equipment energy workers use.
A key message: no selfie or video is worth risking your life. Live electrical equipment can cause a fatal shock even without direct contact.

Strengthening the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system and attracting new investments were discussed during a meeting with @EIB Vice-President @karlnehammer.
I expressed my gratitude for this important visit to Kyiv, which comes at a time when russia continues its terror against peaceful Ukrainian cities.
Amidst constant russian attacks, our key objective is to convert funding into tangible results as quickly as possible: protected energy facilities, restored capacity, and reliable grids.
🔹 One of our priorities is a new investment project for Ukrenergo, its cost estimated at up to €275 million. It focuses on enhancing the resilience of critical substations.
🔹 Additional physical protection for energy facilities was another topic of our discussion. We coordinated on ways to secure this support with the involvement of the EIB, the EU, and international partners.
🔹 Another key area is the financial stability of the energy sector - specifically, the stabilization of the electricity balancing market. We are working on systemic solutions in collaboration with the EIB, the @EBRD, and the @EU_Commission.
🔹 Furthermore, we discussed the development of cross-border electricity interconnections with the EU. A key project in this regard is the construction of the 400 kV "Artsyz–Isaccea" power line between Ukraine and Romania. The implementation of this project will increase the reliability of energy transmission between our countries.
I would like to thank Karl Nehammer and the European Investment Bank team for their consistent support of Ukraine’s energy sector. Currently, our joint portfolio with the EIB in the energy sector comprises seven projects with a total value of approximately €1.26 billion. These initiatives focus on the restoration and modernization of power grids, the physical protection of energy infrastructure, the renovation of hydropower facilities, and ensuring a stable gas supply.
