Your driver (me) earned $73.02, or $51.84 after vehicle expenses.
Uber kept $86.52, or 42% of your fare, AFTER insurance, taxes, and other fees.
$86.52 > $73.02.
Uber (software) kept more for arranging the trip than it paid me to drive 60 miles over 74 minutes.
Hereās what makes this interesting. Iām a data guy and Iāve driven this exact airport trip about 190 times over the past few years. Passengers usually pay around $123, and Uber typically keeps 20%.
Today, you paid $84 more than usual. There was nothing in the app explaining the higher price. You just happened to pay significantly more for the same trip, and Uber kept most of that difference.
Iām not complaining about the $73 fare.
