What troubles me most about the Conservative Party's renewed & increasingly aggressive efforts to question the journalistic independence & integrity of the CBC is this: It fuels an already dangerous mistrust in journalism in our society; it also leads to disproportionate scrutiny on our public broadcaster while essentially giving a 'free pass' to dozens of other media outlets in this country - many of whom have benefited handsomely from federal government funding/support since 2019 (and during the pandemic). Media outlets that include Maclean's Magazine & Postmedia. The attacks on the CBC also seem to suggest that media outlets not funded by the federal government are somehow 'squeaky clean'. Yet, it's well known that private media have often pulled news stories to avoid upsetting advertisers. This entire debate is nuanced and not black and white, as the CPC would have you think. #cdnpoli #cdnmedia

Let that sink in: And we haven't even had the windows closed that much yet.
#YGK is now nearing a number of COVID hospitalizations not seen in since the end of 2021.
I’ve watched a lot of live hits today, but this might be the best demonstration of the Magdalen Islands winds so far 😂 Posted by Sven Meier, reposted with his permission.

Just last month, when the Ford govt tabled its budget, it said the province was running a $13.5 B *deficit* for 2021-22 (fiscal year that ended in March.) Today we learned the govt actually ran a *surplus* of $2.1B. That's a $15 B difference in a few weeks.

I'm not an overly political animal, but hearing some goofy partisan flaptrappery on here suggesting that our current Canadian gov't is somehow (magic?) responsible for GLOBAL INFLATION!!! It's beyond stupid. Q: How is Canada really doing vs comparable nations? A: Not too shabby.

I’m hearing more “I say this as someone who has been very COVID cautious for two years” regarding lowered mitigation. When people use their past effort as cover for current apathy, to me it just sounds like: “Well, I drink & drive now but I didn’t for years.” #MaskUp #SARSCoV2
