A recent review of research confirms multiple benefits of "looping" - that is, having a teacher stay with a class of students for more than one year: edworkingpapers.com/ai22-590

1/7 Time for my periodic reminder about one of the most important educational research findings of the 20th century: the Eight-Year Study.
Back in the 1930s, 30 high schools around the U.S. turned traditional practice on its head, especially for college-bound students...

Today we had a special guest, one of our member's father, Mr. Smith! He is an avid disc golf player and came to teach our human players how to really play. With his help our accuracy will multiply! @Boone_County @IgniteAtRIC @FIRSTweets @FRCTeams @MisterSmithSS

Schools like Ignite Institute are proof of what we already know: When we invest in our public education, incredible things can happen. That's why my budget plan isn't focused on moving the state to the left or right – just forward, together.

The great thing about having teachers with different talents, passions, and even personalities is that they all reach students that someone may not be able to reach. Celebrate the greatness every educator brings!

funny how in retrospect trump was pretty much almost exactly as bad as people thought he would be. like the more upset someone was on election night in 2016 the better their predictions have likely aged. the few things where he wasn't that bad were mainly due to incompetence.

It's often said: White kids, upon being taught the history of racism, will feel guilty or bad about being White. In fact, White kids who receive antiracist history lessons exhibit fewer racist ideas about Black people while their attitudes about White people are unaffected.

While I have your attention, check out my latest article about anti-CRT laws and the anti-CRT moral panic for @TheForumAAPF: forummag.com/2023/03/06/fear…
One thing I want to highlight: how important it is that we NOT respond to the moral panic by saying “CRT isn’t even being taught.”

ALT When liberals and moderates respond to the anti-CRT moral panic by insisting that CRT is not actually taught in public schools, they both concede the conservative premise that the insights of CRT are dangerous and inappropriate for K-12 students and fail to point out that right-wing activists are, in their own words, “intentionally redefining what ‘critical race theory’ means in the public mind, expanding it as a catchall for the new racial orthodoxy.” As Lakoff observes, this kind of approach guarantees disaster for Democrats; the argument is lost before it begins.

I'll say again what I will doubtless be saying a million times in the coming years: Algorithmic feeds have pushed content creators to conform to the acceptable aesthetic and cultural average; A.I. generation will just automatically produce that average from the start
