This morning in Harare, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade officially kicked off its annual Strategic Planning Review Workshop, charting an aggressive roadmap to translate diplomatic engagement into tangible economic returns for the nation. The workshop is being held under a definitive, outcome-based theme: “𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬: 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐙𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐰𝐞’𝐬 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝, 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬-𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲.” Zimbabwe's Foreign Policy is moving permanently away from standard ceremonial reporting, and this strategic plan serves as an essential blueprint to align the country's global diplomatic footprint directly with the industrial goals of the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2: 2026–2030) and Vision 2030. For the Foreign Ministry and the people of Zimbabwe, this strategic plan carries immense practical importance, functioning as an economic shield and a commercial pipeline. Guided strictly by 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟏𝟐 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧,which legally mandates a Pan-African foreign policy rooted in Ubuntu, the Ministry is leveraging its flagship doctrines, "𝐙𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐰𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬" and being a "𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐞", to ensure that political and international relations directly impact the livelihoods of ordinary citizens. The core objective of this results-driven diplomacy is to utilize international statecraft to attract high-yield foreign direct investment, open lucrative global markets for local exports, and secure advanced technology transfers. Through focusing heavily on local mineral beneficiation, regional value chains via Zimbabwe's newly assumed COMESA Chairmanship, and global governance coordination ahead of taking its historic seat on the UN Security Council for the 2027–2028 term, this strategic framework successfully converts sound economics and robust international partnerships into local industries, sustainable job creation, and food security, proving that the ultimate success of foreign policy is measured by putting food on the tables of the Zimbabwean people.

This morning at the magnificent New Parliament Building in Mt. Hampden, His Excellency President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa officially assumed the Chairmanship of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) during the historic 25th Summit of Heads of State and Government. Accepting the prestigious role with deep humility, President Mnangagwa extended his profound gratitude to the outgoing Chairperson, President William Ruto of Kenya, for steering the trade bloc with immense purpose, clarity, and a steadfast focus on digitization and robust value chains. The President also congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia on his appointment as the new Vice Chairperson, declaring that Zimbabwe and Zambia stand completely ready to work as a unified force to lead the 21-nation bloc toward unprecedented economic growth. Delivering a , policy-driven opening address under the summit theme, "One Market, One Future: Advancing Inclusive Industrialisation, Investment and Regional Integration in COMESA," the President asserted that the true future of the US$1.23 trillion regional economy completely rejects raw commodity extraction. He challenged the trade bloc to learn from Zimbabwe's strict policy choices on natural resources, urging member states to fast-track localized value addition and deep mineral beneficiation. To guarantee regional food security, President Mnangagwa announced that Zimbabwe will champion the development of agro-processing industrial parks and the climate-proofing of agriculture across the region. To permanently unlock the potential of a combined customer base of 640 million people, the President called for out-of-the-box financing models to upgrade cross-border road and rail systems, alongside the wider deployment of digital trade networks to close the financing gap for youth, women, and SMEs. H.E. President Mnangagwa emphasized that economic integration is only a success when it benefits ordinary citizens, the Head of State challenged leaders to align education and skills training to manufacture tangible products. Anchoring his address in the nation’s core, non-adversarial foreign policy mandate, President Mnangagwa concluded: "As we chart our own destination, we remind the world that Zimbabwe remains a friend to all and an enemy to none, exercising our amenable rights to self-determination. With unity of purpose, let us deliver a better, more prosperous future for the people of Africa."
