One of the reasons we insist you guys read party manifesto as so that you can hold the parties accountable directly to what they promise. Politicians will lie to you to get votes, and after that they will go back to their manifesto and leave you hanging. Back in 2024 Hellen Zille basically agreed with Malema’s stance of documenting illegal foreigners and giving them the opportunity to legalise their stay because they provide skilled labour, Herman Mashaba is here lying to you about what his own party’s manifesto says because he know all you care about is foreigners, even though his own party shares that stance as well. Le tlo domwa ke Di politicians because you’d rather they lie to you.

I proudly download music from all kinds of Pirate websites when I can’t afford to pay for Spotify, Apple Music or can’t stream on YT. I don’t owe any artist, they don’t share any royalties with me, I’m doing them a favour by just listening to the music alone.

This whole tax conversation is another reason why we should not glorify privatisation as government policy.
It’s not okay to normalise privately paying for services that we’re already being taxed for. The state must do its job, and it must do it competently!

Borrowing money just got a little more expensive, while saving money will pay out slightly more interest.
25 basis points sounds like a gentle, harmless medical term. In reality, it’s a 0.25% hike. On a R1,000,000 bond, that’s an extra ~R165 a month. That’s one block of Kerrygold butter or half a tank of 95 petrol gone into the void.
The repo rate sits at 7.25%. But wait!
The commercial banks add their mandatory 3.5% “thanks-for-existing” fee, pushing the prime rate you actually pay to 10.75%. Every time Lesetja Kganyago clears his throat, your bank debit-orders your soul.
Why are they doing this? Inflation!
Food and electricity prices are rising too fast, so the Reserve Bank’s genius strategy is to make us so aggressively broke that we physically can’t buy anything.
Can’t have high prices if nobody has money! Macroeconomics! 🧠💥
The “silver lining”? If you have a fixed deposit or savings account, you’ll earn slightly higher interest! Which is fantastic news for the four people in South Africa who still have savings instead of a maxed-out credit card and an existential crisis.
In short: Your bond payment went up, your car instalment went up, and your emergency dinner plans just got downgraded to instant noodles.
Stay safe out there! 🫠
The SARB has raised interest rates by 25 basis points, citing ongoing global pressures and heightened risks to inflation.
The repo rate now stands at 7.25%, with the MPC reiterating its focus on getting inflation back to the 3% target over time.

You expect a lot from people who wanted to cancel Women For Change so they could attend a concert by a well known abuser, while defending podcasts and Twitter accounts that degrade women on a daily . And then you expect these same people to suddenly take women’s safety seriously?

“Do this” “Do that” “Avoid this” “Carry that”. When will people realise that if someone wants to harm a woman in a country that doesn’t prioritise women and children’s protection, there’s nothing that’ll stop them from doing that?
