Take a ghost tour of MoMA PS1 at night 👻 From the attic to the boiler room to the seemingly infinite stairwells and corridors, people have long said PS1 has haunted vibes. And with a building dating back to the 1800s, it would be kind of lame if we didn't have a ghost or two? 📽️ Watch the full 2018 paranormal investigation of MoMA PS1 and @museumofmodernart: moma.org/magazine/articles/1… Visit this weekend and check out the Boiler Room in the basement for yourself. Admission is free for humans and ghosts alike.

In 1972, Masao Gozu began photographing strangers at the moment they looked out of their windows. The thousands of images he took form an architectural and psychological portrait of New York City across decades. In 2025, he went back to sites where he had photographed windows decades earlier and took the pictures again. Some buildings have changed dramatically or vanished, while others have held, with surprising continuity. The first US museum exhibition of his work, Masao Gozu: Windows and Bars opens November 5 and runs through March 15, 2027. — Masao Gozu. "Eldridge Street, Lower East Side, September 1972." 1972. After years working with organic materials and forensic evidence from Mexico City's morgue, Teresa Margolles shifted in the early 2000s to materials tied to criminal acts in public space. Her work began to examine violence through the residue left in the streets, what she frames as the "periphery of the body." These two pieces of jewelry are made with glass shards recovered from score-settling incidents of organized crime in Culiacán, Sinaloa. A local jeweler recreated designs from his repertoire, setting the glass in place of precious stones. See them in "Teresa Margolles: En el lugar de los hechos (At the Scene)," on view through Feb 8. — Teresa Margolles. "Joya (Cadena) (Jewel [Chain])," 2007. Hard Art opens November 5 at MoMA PS1. This major exhibition brings together more than 40 artists to examine the legacy of abstract painting by Black artists in the US, from 1969 to now, across sculpture, video, sound, and painting. Expect to see historical works by Frank Bowling, Cynthia Hawkins, Peter Bradley, Howardena Pindell, David Hammons, Barbara Chase Riboud, and Martin Puryear, alongside works by Glenn Ligon, Julie Mehretu, Jennie C. Jones, and Mark Bradford. Plus, check out new works by Carolyn Lazard, Rindon Johnson, SoiL Thornton, and Torkwase Dyson. This intergenerational show builds on PS1's seminal 1980 exhibition "Afro-American Abstraction," continuing to probe abstraction’s relationship to identity and Blackness. Organized by Connie Butler, The Agnes Gund Director, with Sheldon Gooch, Curatorial Associate. Exhibition research and support is provided by June Kitahara, Research Assistant.

Since the 1990s, artist Teresa Margolles has recovered traces of crimes, disappearances, and displacements. Experience her powerful, poignant works across two museums. At @momaps1, "Teresa Margolles: En el lugar de los hechos (At the Scene)" marks the artist's largest presentation in the US, with room-sized installations of the artist's bold minimalist forms. Check out "La promesa" (2012), a sculpture that consists of thirteen tons of rubble from an abandoned home in Ciudad Juárez, dismantled by hand over the course of the exhibition. At @themuseumofmodernart, "Aproximación al lugar de los hechos (Approaching the Scene)" is a new installation of heated steel plates and water infused with residue collected from recent sites of violence in Minnesota, California, and Texas. Both exhibitions are now on view, co-organized by MoMA PS1 and The Museum of Modern Art. — [1-3: Photo: @marissaalper] [4: Teresa Margolles. Where does the ☮️ come from? In 1958, English artist Gerald Holtom designed the peace sign using intersecting semaphore letters—a communication system historically used by the military—N (for Nuclear) and D (for Disarmament). The official logo for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, the now-ubiquitous peace sign has inspired countless variations of anti-nuclear designs, from posters to T-shirts and buttons. Artists Against the Bomb is a direct extension and amplification of this design-driven call to action. Swing by MoMA PS1 to see Artists Against the Bomb in Homeroom, on view through Feb 8.

Today is the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. An estimated 12,187 nuclear weapons remain in the world, and the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) warns that the risk of deployed nuclear weapons is higher now than during the Cold War. On view now in Homeroom, Artists Against the Bomb gathers more than 80 calls to action, including posters, film, photography, literature, music, sculpture, and rare ephemera, all in support of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. The show is rooted in an urgent belief that meaningful change comes through collective action and public refusal. — 📸: @ryanmuir
