My college roommate @ABizzle36 wrote this beautiful reflection on growing up in Bloomfield while sharing @AbdulElSayed’s name, Abdulrahman. A must read:
What’s in a name? Reflecting on Abdul's victory, our shared history, and the principles of leadership that defined how he campaigned and how he will govern:

This is nuts. Abdul El-Sayed’s h-index on Google Scholar is 37 — higher than that of your average tenured professor at an Ivy League school.

Fun fact: @AbdulElSayed will have the highest h-index of any US Senator ever: 37. (Pictured: AJR article that was one of several collaborations with @WBrinjikji, then radiology resident.)

Replying to @JoshKraushaar
That’s incorrect, Josh. Besides the precinct centered on Pontiac Trail, El-Sayed got a majority of the vote. Bloomfield Twp and Bloomfield Hills precincts are a different story.

This was my precinct in the middle of @WestBloomfield. I’m shocked.

El Sayed and Mamdani won because they effendimaxxed. The affable Mohammedan gentilhomme. No “clapbacks”, no diasporism, no activist rants dripping with ressentiment and incivility. Affable, charismatic, large in spirit, cosmopolitan — a dash of cunning and sleaze. Effendimaxxing
It is my honor and privilege to be headed to the US Senate to serve the great state of Michigan.  Michigan, we did what they said couldn’t be done. We won. Together. Now the real work begins.

This. I wish I could call out those journalists from Oakland County (and West Bloomfield) that got it so wrong and were so intentionally misleading the public on @CNN and company.
Abdul El-Sayed is outperforming Kamala Harris in Oakland County with 86% of precincts reporting. All those coastal journos who slapped together hand-wringing coverage about Dem divisions in the Detroit burbs might be feeling a little silly tomorrow.

For those outsiders that have been looking at the numbers coming out of Oakland County, I think this post helps explain part of the turnout for him. Abdul and his family are no strangers to the community here, regardless of how much mal actors tried to paint him as foreign.

Mike Lawler was one of the members of Congress who fought hard to keep sanctions on @SyrianResponse while it sought to recover after years of civil war and participated in many of the disinformation campaigns against it. Another loss to take note of.

“Wins in West Bloomfield” and “ahead….in Oakland County”
NEW: The @AbdulElSayed camp. tells me @HuffPost they are currently "feeling strong," pointing to wins in West Bloomfield, and running ahead of Slotkin margins in Oakland County. They say they are" exceeding expectations in contentious areas" + seeing massive turnout on campuses

Also heavily Muslim. Roughly 32,000 Jews and 32,000 Muslims live in Oakland County.
Wow: El-Sayed outperforming Kamala Harris in Oakland County, heavily Jewish area, and Rogers underperforming Trump.

This final effort to other Abdul El-Sayed is appalling, and a good antidote is to listen to the way he speaks about what being an American means to him. This is from our interview in September:

Hence the freakout. (From some quarters.) But folks: Engagement in our democracy from all Americans is a GOOD thing. 🇺🇸
Arab and Muslim Americans have garnered immense political capital over the last two years. A community that was once viewed as inconsequential in determining the outcomes of elections are now playing a pivotal role in shaping U.S. politics.
