I was fortunate to meet Richard when I was conducting research on languages from Maluku. He was indeed kind and generous and I am sad to learn this news.
ABC Indonesia piece on Richard Chauvel's scholarly life and legacy. One could not hope to meet a kinder, more generous scholar. I learned a lot from teaching, researching and supervising students together with Richard and will miss his friendship greatly. abc.net.au/indonesian/2022-0…

Australian #slang may not be part of your everyday #lingo, but it can have a special place in your heart. 🇦🇺 But why do we love it so much? And which words go, and which ones stay slangy? @Monash_Arts researchers are working on a study to find out: mona.sh/Pe3H30rVwkc

My first manuscript, Scripting Japan, is out in early August via @RoutledgeLing! Incredibly nerve-wracking to send off something like this into "the wild", but delighted as well. See the image below for a discount. I hope this helps readers see written Japanese in new ways.
