🐶💧❤️ A LITTLE KINDNESS GOES A LONG WAY The dog had learned to recognize the fountain by its sound. Every time the old iron handle creaked and water splashed onto the drain, she would come out from behind the tree and sit quietly where the water flowed. She never begged or pushed her way forward. She simply waited. That morning, some men from a nearby workshop were standing around, chatting casually with their masks on. One man wearing a striped shirt noticed her first. Instead of towering over her, he gently crouched down, placed both hands beneath the tap, and collected some water. The dog looked at him, then at the water resting in his palms. For a few seconds, she just stood there, breathing softly. Then she slowly leaned forward and began to drink, carefully, as though she was afraid the water might disappear if she moved too quickly. The man stayed perfectly still. The others fell silent, watching the touching moment. One of them even kept his hand on the pump handle to make sure the water continued flowing. When the water in his hands was almost gone, the dog gently licked the last drops from between his fingers. He slowly lowered his hands, being careful not to frighten her. With her tail hanging low, she stepped onto the drain to drink a little more from the running fountain. She stood so close that her shoulder lightly touched his knee. The man didn't move until she had finished. Nobody called out to her, and nobody tried to touch her. When she was done, she shook herself once, glanced back at his now-empty hands, and quietly walked towards the shade beneath the tree. The men eventually returned to their conversations, and the fountain continued running as usual. But for a brief moment, that street felt different. It wasn't just a place where people passed by anymore. It had become a place where a small act of kindness reminded everyone that even the smallest gestures can make a difference. ❤️🐾💧
