Our comprehensive analysis of the recent exploit that impacted our system 🔴
Taking the lead in investigating was @simsalacrypto and the development team.
Points worth noting:
➡ The only affected pools were Chronos CL pools
➡ We have developed a compensation program for those affected
More details below 👇
Upon thorough investigation, we determined the exploit to have been a flash loan.
We also determined the root factors that enabled this attack:
1️⃣ Vulnerabilities existed in Dyson's concentrated liquidity (CL) model, specifically in the liquidity and share calculations.
The crux of the issue stemmed from the liquidityOfThis function, which dictates LP share returns based on the current internal price.
2️⃣ Having Chronos as the sole liquidity source into the affected vaults severely limited depth.
Without substantial deposits from other users, the pools remained vulnerable to manipulation.
By exploiting these weaknesses, the attackers were able to artificially inflate the value of a certain deposited asset through a carefully orchestrated flash loan attack.
Here's how it played out 👇
🔸 They took out an enormous flash loan, using the borrowed capital to aggressively swap one asset side of the Chronos LP to an irrationally high price.
🔸 With the pool now extremely unbalanced, they deposited the inflated tokens into the target Dyson vault.
🔸 Due to concentrated liquidity dynamics, this spiked the internal valuation. Dyson then minted shares for the deposit based on these temporary, manipulated calculations.
🔸 They exited the position by trading back, collecting the excess Dyson shares minted from the artificially pumped prices.
By the nature of CL models, even small directional trades can significantly sway internal valuations when liquidity remains limited.
The outsized flash loan-fueled swap achieved an exaggerated effect.
And in the absence of organic counter-balancing flows from a broader user base, the inflated state persisted enabling share exploitation.
In total, we estimate approx. $148,000 worth of funds were extracted in this attack before automatic safeguards halted the affected vaults.
As promised, our top priority involves fully compensating all users impacted by this breach.

We’ve significantly upgraded Dyson's UX and UI with Dyson 2.1.0, focused on user needs.
This included many things our community has been calling for:

➡ More detailed info tooltips
➡ Instant updates
Searching, managing and sharing positions is now smoother than ever with a blazing fast architecture and turbo-speed loading.
Building on our foundation, the launch of Dyson 2.1.1 soon followed, feature-equipped with a plethora of community suggestions ranging from on-demand insights into yield breakdowns (USD & $SPHERE) to one-click copy functionality for instant sharing.
Bug fixes were also implemented, providing a much more seamless experience for all Dysoneers!
3️⃣ Prioritizing Security & Responsibility
As always, security remains paramount. Upon discovering a wallet connector vulnerability, the team immediately communicated potential risk and implemented patches.
An extensive exploit testing process was done till all threats had been dealt with.
We're dedicated to keeping your assets secure at all times, Sphereans. We'll continue to be diligent in conveying status updates, applying fixes and mitigating threats as soon as they arise.

4️⃣ Treasury Report
After months of tedious effort and tracking, the Sphere Treasury Report for Q1, Q2 & Q3 has finally been released.

And for more streamlined production of future Reports, we've reconfigured tracking tools.
