Selfie Sunday! 😁

Well…the most unexpected thing just happened. I was at my local grocery store, making a turn into the frozen vegetable aisle when I noticed something out of the ordinary. There was a lady on the ground on her back, with a few people standing around her on their phones. The lady was roughly middle aged and unresponsive. I rushed to ask what happened, if anyone was around. The crowd responded that she was alone and no one saw what happened. I noticed she was mildly shaking, guppy breathing and had a pool of blood underneath her head. Luckily the victim’s phone was unlocked and a bystander was able to call the person she was texting with, who happened to be her husband. We shifted the woman to the left lateral recumbent position to hopefully secure her airway. At this point the victim still had a pulse and the breathing began to stabilize. By that time, the grocery store workers arrived and I asked them if they could grab an AED just in case. Additional workers arrived and they cordoned the area to prevent crowds from gathering. A few minutes later, the woman began to regain some consciousness and her husband arrived. EMS arrived on scene and I was able to give a medical report and treatment I had conducted and I left. Finished shopping. The moral of the story: Always be prepared. You never know when your skills may be needed. Good samaritans still exist.
