Gathering as a community around God’s word is a cherished time. Last week there was an opportunity for families to join chapel for songs of praise, prayer and reflection on what makes Christian community so unique and precious as together we looked at Titus 3. Mark Earngey encouraged us with many reminders of how God’s people relate to one another and the Christ shaped approach to life which is characterised by humility and meekness. What does it look like to build a Word-rich church? On his recent US visit, Tony Payne spoke at the VineGrowers Retreat, where pastors and ministry teams gathered to encourage one another in disciple-making ministry. Across four talks drawing on his book, Let the Word Dwell Richly: The vital power of the one-another word, Tony explored how God’s word can shape the life of a whole congregation when it is faithfully preached and shared with one another in everyday life. A rich encouragement to keep building churches where the word reverberates in the lips and lives of God’s people.

What happens when people encounter Jesus through the Gospel of Mark? Across two nights of The Mark Drama, audiences were drawn into the words, actions, death and resurrection of Jesus. Some watched in shock. Others were deeply moved. Many left with questions and a desire to explore Jesus further. Since the performances, we’ve heard stories of people beginning to read the Bible, visiting churches and continuing conversations about faith. For some, it marked the beginning of trusting in Jesus. Praise God that his gospel is not simply a familiar story, but life-changing good news for all who hear it. Read more: ow.ly/UYub50ZYNHI
