I've thought about this before, but reading this with my morning coffee reminded me of the huge disconnect between urban Southern NH and the mostly rural rest of the state. The only way Manchester is "the heart of central New Hampshire" is if you think Concord is the northern extreme of the state. I know the idea of #NHexit is popular in some circles (NH leaving the USA and becoming it's own nation) but that's not going to happen. But hear me out. Our neighbors in Maine have the same issue. So here's my plan. Coos, Carroll and Grafton counties split off from the rest of the state. Maybe toss in the northern halves of Sullivan and Belknap counties too. That's roughly dividing the state in half by area. Sounds pretty fair to me. Northern NH and northern ME merge together and become the new New Hampshire, and Southern NH and southern ME merge to become the new ME. I'm not married to the names, I am just getting tired of people who chose to live on top of each other trying to change zoning so they can expand into the areas where people just want to be left the fuck alone. Flip em if ya want so @FreeStateNH doesn't have to change their @ name.

“We have to expand the SCOTUS. Let’s expand it to 13... We also need to take a critical look at the Electoral College, fight for statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C. These have to be first priorities.” - @KamalaHarris

It sounds like a drug/gang related shooting. Wanna guess?
What is the race of the suspect that was arrested?

For anyone curious about what it actually looked like to kill a generation of functioning cars, here’s an actual video from 2009 and brief explanation: The dealer first replaces the oil with sodium silicate solution. It’s a clear-ish liquid that crystallizes under extreme heat. As the engine warms up the solution begins to form small abrasive crystals in the oil system that shred the bearing and score the cylinder walls. Within seconds of starting the car you can see smoke billowing from the exhaust, this is the crystals scratching the cylinder walls and leaving small grooves for oil and solution to leak past into the combustion chamber and ignite/evaporate, producing the white smoke. Pretty soon the entire crankcase is full of crystals and freshly shredded metal flakes, the engine seizes. It took about 40 seconds in this video. Some engines reportedly lasted up to 7 minutes, but all were destroyed. That strikes me as sort of sad in a way, like watching a great warrior slowly lose a heroic last stand. Now, this is the part that gets insanely wasteful. These cars were sent to federally approved recycling facilities where they had 180 days to sell the non-engine parts before they were required to prove that they had shred the entire thing into scrap steel. But, in talking to a guy who ran one such facility at the time, he typically just sent them straight to the crusher. The timeframes allotted weren’t long enough to dismantle all of the cars, and even if you could, the marginal prices of the parts was greatly diminished. You cannot sell 1000 transmissions when only 50 went bad that year, they became worthless. So just like that, in order to increase prosperity and save the environment, 677,000 entire running cars and trucks were turned directly into rebar worth a few cents per pound. The entire Obama administration was like a chapter out of atlas shrugged.
Barack Obama was horrible in a million different ways, but he doesn’t get anywhere near the hate he deserves for destroying the used car market for an entire generation. 15-year-old cars with 150,000 miles that should be selling for $3,000 are going for $15,000. It’s abominable. Pure destruction and thievery.

A tough moment for @RepChrisPappas on @WMUR9's Close Up today when he's forced to admit that, despite serving on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Pappas failed to secure a single dollar for the $360M water project in his hometown of Manchester. @NHGOP

Socialism is on the ballot. This is very concerning. 1. Mr. Bell has no idea about childcare in this state. 2. What does he mean by “making sure the systems are fully funded?” 3. He calls childcare a “right.” 4. Her infers that families pitching in is a bad thing. Children should be in the care of families when possible. When I said he was a socialist I took some heat. This is a socialist perspective. Who is going to pay for it? We also don’t have enough supply to make it “Right.” If we did have enough supply it would cost roughly $600M per year. We cannot afford Mr. Bell and his socialist policies. This was just…wow!!!! Last year I sponsored and co-sponsored childcare tax credit bills. I have already put in a bill for this year that would help free up some space in before and after school programs. There is a responsible way to help families. It is not by taking money from other families.

Massholes openly interfering in NH elections. Dude, just because your family owns some AirBNBs in NH, you're still a Masshole. Maybe worry about your own failed state.

Does New Hampshire underfund its schools? In FY2024, NH’s current spending per student was $22,978, 30% more than the U.S. average of $17,619. That’s $5,359 more per student. Current spending leaves out construction, equipment, and interest on debt.

50 of New Hampshire’s 101 SAUs serve fewer than 1,000 students (fall 2025). In FY2024, NH spent $2,140 per student on administration (superintendent and principal offices). That’s 65% more than the U.S. average of $1,297.

“I don’t agree with this cap,” Boudreau said. “You people are elected by the people here in town. It’s interesting how people in Concord keep saying they want to help and that they want local control, but don’t trust you guys well enough so they have to have a safety belt.” Boudreau’s claim that Question Two undermines local control of schools is made by many of its opponents. “New Hampshire has a proud tradition of town meetings and local control, and this undermines it,” Deb Howes, president of the American Federation of Teachers-New Hampshire, said when the proposal was being debated. It’s also an argument supporters dismiss as nonsense. “What’s more ‘local’ than letting local voters decide if they want to cap local taxes?” said Rep. Ross Berry, R-Weare. nhjournal.com/dems-wage-war-…

"Report this invasive species." "Let's purge NH of invasive pests." "Apt comparison between invasive plants and the Free State Project." That's how some NH Democrats, including my own town committee in Nottingham, talk about their neighbors. We're not pests. We're Granite Staters who want lower taxes and more freedom. Would you accept this language about any other group?

Troy Jackson's campaign mailers feature *Kate from Norwich". Unfortunately for Troy there is no Norwich, ME. There is a Norwich in Connecticut about 200 miles away from Maine. If that's where Kate is from her opinions on the Maine Senate election really does not matter.
