In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

Can we PLEASE stop this ridiculous mangling of Early Modern English. “Should’ve goneth” is complete nonsense, but I see similar mistakes all the time from companies wealthy enough to hire someone who knows better.
“Thou shouldst have gone to Specsavers.”
Surely these critics should understand that they're there to review how the tapestry is displayed and how the exhibition is presented, not the bloody thing itself 🙄
It's not the nuns of Canterbury who are being reviewed but the BM itself!
Not only is this cowardice, but its also indicative that his entire parliamentary career was a self-serving and back-stabbing exercise to rise to the top job. Now dumped out of No.10 he has no interest in continuing to pretend to serve those people who helped him get there.
'One of the last Brexit issues sorted'
🇬🇧🤝🇪🇺 A new chapter for Gibraltar.
The signing of this agreement provides certainty for people and businesses, supports prosperity across the region, and protects Britain’s sovereignty and way of life.
Gibraltar remains an important part of the UK family.

ALT Photo of the Rock outcrop in Gibraltar with blue sky. On the image text is overlaid and reads Gibraltar agreement at a glance. The following are in bullet points underneath, 1- British sovereignty remains unaffected. 2- No document checks or long delays for people crossing Gibraltar's land border. 3- UK military base stays unaffected. 4- No-deal avoided saving UK taxpayer £100 of millions. 5- One of the last Brexit issues sorted.
Interesting how they say nothing at all about the primarily aesthetic aims of Kirchner and the Die Brücke group, but instead take a wild handbrake turn into 'meanwhile...' history.
I'm all for putting works in context but surely the *art* history must come before the history?
It is illiterate gibberish on the part of the Tate — and, as you say, an outrage that one of the greatest British artworks of the 20th century is deliberately withheld from public view. I remember being in the Tate Modern last year and reading the description of Kirchner’s “Bathers at Moritzburg”, which cynically suggested a link between the painting and Nazi ideals of racial purity. Yet Kirchner’s work was in fact banned by the Nazis for being degenerate! It is a sinister way for a national museum to twist art history in the way — and I’m pleased to see you and others pushing back against this stuff.

I'd really like to know when the @Tate plans to put the Resurrection, Cookham by Stanley Spencer back on public display? One of the standout pieces of 20th century British art and it's been out of view for what feels like ages
This came after they put up an explanatory plaque accusing Spencer of “reinforcing racist stereotypes and divisions” in the painting. If they are, as it seems, sitting on Spencer's masterpiece because they are ashamed of it, then the Resurrection should be displayed by people who aren't embarrassed. The Stanley Spencer gallery in Cookham would have no such qualms! Sorry, it's too important a painting to shove in a basement because your trustees are pussies
Unbelievably blatant cheating from Somerset in the T20 here. Funny how the floodlights were fine for all of their innings?
Wait...this *isn't* a parody???
