⚔️ 𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗨𝗥𝗣𝗟𝗘 | 𝗔𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗡𝗜 𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 MATT BERGMEYER ’16 “I owe my life to Mount Union Wrestling. It’s where I met some of my very best friends and started building the life I have today with my wife, Hayley, and our three kids, Austyn, Bo, and Jackson. Looking back, so much of what I have today can be traced back to my time at Mount. Going into my senior year, I figured wrestling would be done for me after college. Then Coach Josh Malave asked if I’d come back as an assistant coach. I had no idea at the time how much that decision would impact my life. It led to a graduate assistant role at Muskingum University, where I met Hayley, and eventually a career in wrestling that I never could have imagined. Through my career, it’s also been rewarding to find ways to give back to the Mount Union wrestling program and support Coach Riggs and the Purple Raiders. I’m thankful Coach Malave gave me that opportunity, and I’ll always be grateful for what Mount Union Wrestling has given me. These days, I get to give a little of that back by coaching my daughter’s youth wrestling team and helping the next generation fall in love with the sport, just like I did.” Manager of Wrestling Partnerships | Nike 📍 Mechanicsburg, Ohio Matt has built an extensive career in collegiate wrestling coaching and corporate sports brand partnerships, continuing to make an impact on the sport at every level.
