Dear Dave Matthews - @davematthewsbnd, You closed your excellent Chicago United Center show last night by noting some people were happy with Tuesday’s results—big cheers—then calling to “hold their feet to the fire.” Sort of a buzzkill to an otherwise great show that allowed us to escape the battle cries of politics. Your utopian rhetoric lacks awareness. The “affordability” message that helped Democrats (and sealed another term for Pritzker in Illinois) almost always becomes the vehicle for higher taxes, bigger government, and the rest of the progressive package. In Illinois, residents already face some of the highest property tax rates in the country, layered on top of a high overall state-and-local tax burden. More “investments” in housing, childcare, healthcare, and the rest will be paid for by the same taxpayers who were promised relief. History shows the bills go up while the results lag. The same coalition that cheers “affordability” has also pushed policies that weaken Title IX and girls’ sports by prioritizing gender identity over sex-based categories, expanded sanctuary protections that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, and aggressive climate mandates that raise energy and housing costs. Illinois has leaned hard into the sanctuary approach under Pritzker; the incentives and costs don’t disappear just because the rhetoric focuses on grocery bills and rents. “Hold their feet to the fire” sounds good on stage, Dave. And when you live in homogenous liberal enclaves with high income and write and sing songs about love and dope, this all tracks with your luxury beliefs. In practice, the track record in places like Illinois is higher taxes, more spending, less protection for women’s sports, more sanctuary policies, climate-driven cost increases, and a larger state role in daily life (note my work on the latest mental health screenings in Illinois schools). The Dave Matthews song “Ants Marching”: “They all do it the same -- They all do it the same way.” The cheering crowd may have thought Tuesday was a change. The ants just keep marching the same direction. But I'll say the show was great. The violin needs to be a permanent part of the tour; no question. Stick to the art, not the politics. Respectfully, A longtime fan, taxpayer, and voter of anyone but Pritzker

My account keeps getting locked, so I'll try to say this another way. Conservatives need to start doing to liberals what Dave Chappelle was so happy about that happened to Charlie Kirk.
“Ever since that guy Charlie Kirk got murdered, and I shouldn’t say this publicly but…. I feel better.” - Dave Chappelle

Hey @joerogan You gonna call out your good friend @DaveChappelle for his disgusting comments about @charliekirk11 last night at MSG?? This isn’t comedy.
DAVE CHAPPELLE: “Ever since that guy Charlie Kirk got murdered, and I shouldn’t say this publicly but…. I feel better.” Sick.

Dave Chapelle is out there making “edgy” “jokes” about Charlie Kirk’s death but of course when George Floyd died of an overdose this unfunny gutless hack was practically in tears, calling it “tragic” and “a lot to unpack.”

Dave Chappelle is done comedically after what he did Saturday night. He told a Madison Square Garden crowd that he’s happy Charlie Kirk was killed and that the feeling is involuntary. Attendees also report he said he doesn’t care about 9/11 and is sick of people saying “never forget.” None of what Chappelle said is funny. Shame on him. The show was phone-free, so there’s no recording, but multiple people who were there have described the same remarks. Kirk was assassinated in September 2025 while speaking on a college campus. Celebrating that murder from a stage, even framed as an involuntary reaction, crosses a basic line. So does dismissing the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil and the people who still mark it. Chappelle has spent years positioning himself as a fearless truth-teller who punches in every direction. This isn’t that. It’s open contempt for a murdered political figure and for a national trauma that still shapes how millions of Americans see the world. Sponsors and venues that keep booking him after this are choosing to underwrite it. Comedy has wide latitude. It doesn’t require the audience or the companies that pay the bills to pretend a man expressing joy at a political assassination is just doing bits. Drop him. I’ve spent many years applauding and defending Chappelle. That ends immediately. He’s a disgrace to America and he’s not funny.

This kind of retardation is why you cannot write, and thus why, in 14 years on this platform, you have only accumulated an audience of 2000. You don't understand what the basic task of fiction writing even is. It's empathizing in two directions at once. You have to empathize with the characters, to know what they are thinking and feeling, what they want and why, so you know what happens in the story. And you have to empathize with the audience, so you know how to tell it. Except you cannot empathize with half the human race, because your overt ideology prevents you from admitting its very existence. You cannot make the effort to understand how men and boys see the world, what men and boys want, what men and boys believe, what men and boys are interested in, or what men and boys will do, if you cannot acknowledge that "men and boys" is an distinct category of people that exist, and therefore is possible to know things about. Of course, you do not actually believe that boys are indistinct from girls. No one believes that. If you believed that, you would not be able to engage with the question "Why are boys not reading?" because the very question is an admission that there is something distinct about certain children that makes them boys and not girls. No, what you actually believe is "If I acknowledge the differences between boys and girls, I will be punished by my social group." This belief is true. But so what? It's entirely your fault that you chose a social group which makes such ridiculous demands. MY social group doesn't demand I pretend to believe silly things. You don't actually have to play this game anymore, you know. You can just stop. Sure, some people you know will say mean things to you, but you and I both know they kinda do a lot of that already just because of the kind of people they are. You and I also both know they would throw you under a bus in microsecond if some innovation in the mandatory belief system rewarded them for doing so. So, in addition to not having an audience, you don't even have all that many friends, for much the same reason. You may wish to reconsider whether the juice is actually worth the squeeze.
We are going to have a fundamental difference of opinion if you think the answer to boys not reading is to write about “boy stuff” and not rethink how we engage with boys in general let alone as readers. No specific interest or taste should be placed on a gender binary!!!

The tell on Suzie Wiles is that not one Democrat called for her to be investigated, put in prison, or anything. Democrats are vocal about hating pretty much everyone in Trump's administration. Except her.

Or maybe women shouldn't be raising boys. Or children in general. We've created this myth of women as natural mothers and loving caregivers, but it was a male-created myth of a role we wanted women to take on. Once feminism got strong enough women reverted to their true selves and rejected that role. With the myth destroyed, it's time to start talking about limiting women's access to children.

The number 1 case for homeschooling is 90% of grade school teachers are women with a median age of 40. My teachers were women too but they had sons and nephews and understood boys. This is no longer the case.
Hearing the contempt adult women have for 3rd-grade boys simply because they enjoyed an award-winning children's book really makes you wonder what the male youth of this era are actually going through in school and how their futures are being altered because of that treatment.

About 70% of publishing professionals are women. Because agents and editors tend to select books they personally relate to, an increasing number of male authors are being sidelined in the publishing industry, resulting in an overwhelming number of female protagonists on our shelves—and a dearth of male ones. No wonder young men are no longer reading.

This is a formal request for Susie Wiles and James Blair to stop harassing me with texts and calls. If there is a factual inaccuracy in what I said, send it to me in writing and I will vigorously correct and apologize for any misstatements. I will note that everything I said is substantiated by other senior officials. If you want to file a lawsuit and get into discovery of whether it’s provably true that Ballard and Continental had an undue influence on the White House policy process, do it. I believe we are in an existential moment for the country, and Americans were owed an honest accounting of the past two years so we identify the problems we need to move on from.

Boomer feminist mothers traumatized their kids when they wanted to do what they wanted to do. Then, when they are older and can’t rely on their adult children, they want to whine and play the victim. When a kid starts out traumatized, it takes them longer to be a functioning adult. So her 45 year old child is likely to function at an 18 year old level or younger. They make less money. A younger single woman can use her beauty to get men to fix things for her or give her attention. When she is elderly, she’s alone and feels entitled to everyone’s free labor and resources. If she stayed in her marriage, she would have a man to fix her stuff. The rest of us shouldn’t be inconvenienced and put out because of old feminist wh0res who made bad choices.

It’s time to elect a new generation of Democrats. Thank you to Jen Welch for her leadership, from taking on corruption to opposing the Laken Riley Act to speaking out on Gaza. She’s made the progressive movement stronger.
