Was searching for an IC in my pile and noticed this. There's a little Intel "i" (circled in red) within the pin 1 side marking of this chip with gold legs. "1802-0775" is an HP house marking for Intel's first 1103 dynamic RAM chip. Never seen this little "i" before. #Intel

I got my DEC Rainbow 100 running and after a restoration on the unique RX50 dual disk drive. Happy to see my VR201 monitor was fine. I made some floppies and booted up MS-DOS 2.05 and CP/M-86. Here it is booting up MS-DOS. An interesting computer for it's time. #vintagecomputer

Finally landed a CMD FD-2000 3.5" floppy drive for my Commodore 64. It was a "grail" item for me for a long time but was out of reach in terms what these fetch on the market vs what I would be willing to pay. Love the original Creative Micro Design products. #Commodore #CMD

Finally got an Amstrad PPC640 computer. It's a neat portable computer but the screen is not great. That, however, was to be expected. Interesting form factor and while it has a battery compartment ("C" cell), it's not practical as it doesn't last long. It's more of a luggable.

Had my IBM 7690 Nursing Workstations out today. Being a PS/2 (Model 30ish), both needed floppy drive recapping. Normally mounted on the wall with the cables connected from the bottom, I propped one up to run. These have a touch screen LCD screen. #vintagecomputer #IBMPS2

Had an HP 9830A calculator/computer for 10 years and it never worked. Found another and got it yesterday. It also didn't work but with board swapping, it had one bad board. After board swapping, the original had 4 bad boards. Further repairs in my future. #vintagecomputing

Very excited about my latest acquisition. A Gravis Ultrasound ACE (Audio Card Enhancer) that I don't think has ever been used. Now I need to create a 486 era PC with some interesting audio/video cards in it :)

BEWARE if you buy vintage computing items from the US and you are outside of the US, your historical vintage computing items may be e-wasted! My floppy drive tracking below. Apparently a new US policy is why. News article relating to policy: kotaku.com/trumps-new-e-wast… Ridiculous!

Both of my DEC DTC01 Voice synthesis units are working great now. As such, I put a little demo of one of them singing Jingle Bells for the holiday season and #DOScember. Using an IBM PC AT and Telix for scripting. youtu.be/n5BuiTxDFHY #vintagecomputing #retrocomputing #DEC

Good luck @bzotto Count me in, of course. We need to talk about one of those Sphere mugs at some point as it's not available up in Canada.

Very excited to have one of the pictures of my Commodore 8296 from my website as the cover image of a new Japanese book on "Computer Nostalgia: Product Design for Early Personal Computers", I think. I wish I could read Japanese :) Looks like a great book.

This KIM-1 drove me crazy. With two bad RAM chips (one seemingly intermittent) and a bad display digit, it’s finally working. Now all if my KIM-1s are working for the first time.

I think my definition of “LongLife” might be slightly different than these capacitors. This is from a Tandy Sensation power supply that would not power up. I can see why.

Here are some unused ceramic dual inline packages for integrated circuits. I have a few wafers in my collection, why not DIPs too?

First start up of a North American version of the Triumph Adler Royal Alphatronics PC. I didn't realize there was a cartridge that runs the Micro-Text word processor. With the cartridge removed, it runs BASIC. Too bad I don't have the F1 and F2 floppy drives :( On the lookout.

I acquired this Toshiba T100 some time ago but never turned it on until today. After several repairs, it's nice to have a computer turn on the first time with no issues after a short internal inspection. It's a great computer with built-in BASIC. Wish I had the floppy drives.

I find stuff like these commemorative glass trays for computer companies pretty cool. I guess those were a thing back in the 70s?

After replacing one bad ROM because of a new set of dumped ROMs on Bitsavers, I was able to get my IBM System/23 Datamaster up and running. Woohoo!

Here is a quick video of an Apple II with a Micromint Sweet Talker card installed demonstrating voice synthesizer functionality with the onboard Votrax SC-01-A chip.
