I am working on making a clock. This is still very much a work in progress but I am excited to share how it is going so far. Designed with #cuttlexyz, of course.

I just got a set of 8 Finches from @birdbraintech for my classroom and my daughter made a home for them. She designed and laser cut the pieces using @CuttleXYZ. It is a super elegant use of space and should help the students care for the robots better.

1st graders just showed off their alien planet exploration projects. They made helmets and science devices (simple circuit with a button and led). They designed the planet then I put their drawings into a generative ai. Their creative play was a joy to behold.

The Last Robot Standing Tournament concluded with AKA Finch beating The Reminator by a hair. It was an amazing match! One of my favorite moments was when AKA Finch slipped under the giant wingspan of The Reminator. Both went on to score Using @birdbraintech Finch robots

The Last Robot Standing Tournament is chock full of exciting moments. Like any great sporting event we have heartbreaks and moments of triumph. I am super proud of these young robotics engineers for their sportsmanship and teamwork. Using robust Finch robots from @birdbraintech

It is game time! Our robotics class just started the Last Robot Standing tournament. The 3 min matches are intense with strategy and robot crashes. Sarah (my coconspirator) and I are using the Finch Robots from @birdbraintech. This is an explainer of the basic rules:

The 3rd grade Mechanical Hands are done! They started by reverse engineering a finger (Decompose, Recompose) and making 4 fingers. Then they put the fingers together to make the hand (Remix). SS had plenty of time to make mistakes, try out wild ideas, and find success.

This is the example finger I gave students. I gave no instructions on how to build it. It was their job to look closely to identify how it was built. I use the words “Decompose” and “Recompose” with the students to describe this process. Materials: Cardboard Tape Straws String

Exploration stations for 1st grade: Rigamajig The kids worked together beautifully when confronted with the big, real building materials. Every moment with @Rigamajig was precious.

Exploration stations for 1st grade: Wheels, chassis, and pipe cleaners Students explored with the supplies and created toys for them to play with. Play was an important aspect of all of the exploration stations.

My 3rd graders are working on their cardboard mechanical hands using the Decompose, Recompose, Remix. They are firmly in the Remix stage with each student veering into wildly innovative territory.
