Another @GarminFitness @Garmin has failed on me. Epix Gen 2 has broken, won’t turn on and smushy button. Appears it’s a known issue and defect, for a £800 premium “rugged” watch a swim broke it. Now have to pay £150 out of warranty repair, and don’t even get the same watch. Livid.

The amount of posts on the support forums about buttons is shocking forums.garmin.com/outdoor-re… so much so that they've been redesigned on the latest Fenix? Yet I still have to pay for another one that will likely do the same thing?

For the supposed intelligence of the newer Roomba's I don't think it understands closed doors.. currently trying to smash it's way through one to get back home.
Need to get back into the habit of reading tech stuff.. have badly fallen out of the habit of it, and admittedly have a little bit fallen out of love with tech. Need something exciting and shiny to rekindle it!

Oh great hive mind of Twitter, does anyone know of a an iPad app that’s shows a weekly calendar and tasks side by side? Tried lots just now but they seem to be day view and tasks or a week view only

Curious to know what are your favourite and fastest ways to get acquainted with new code bases?

One of the approaches I've thought about is looking at git logs for code hotspots, places where code has a lot of churn, or lots of commits etc. I guess you could also use complexity measures as well to determine places to look as well.

Looking on the brightside, time off with a broken foot will give me plenty of time to read good books. This one is shaping up to be a new favourite

This github.blog/2021-10-12-apply… is such an awesome thing to do @github. Nice to see a company being so helpful to it's community. Being a Githubber must be awesome! Can't wait for Github Universe

I’d forgotten how good this book is. Glad to be re-reading it and remembering lots of things I had forgotten

Bit of light reading this morning!
Wondering if there is a more modern equivalent of patterns of enterprise application architecture, any suggestions?

Getting so frustrated going round in circles with @zeninternet now. Different technical support people saying different things is infuriating and having no one person looking at the issue is making communication all the more difficult. Cannot recommend them at all at the moment

Don’t get what it is about the Witcher on Netflix, but it looks awful, sets look bad, costumes, filming.. looks like it was a Syfy or bbc production. Can’t put my finger on what it is though, compared to game of thrones it just looks bad. Fight scenes were fun though!

reading Designing Data Intensive Applications is making me wonder how the internet works at all! So many failure scenarios!

Trying to understand Designing Data Intensive Applications by @martinkl and feeling stupider by the paragraph! Fantastic book, but I'm too dumb to be reading it. Dynamic Partitioning is *Hard*
