As many of you may have noticed, I have quite an obsession with #Shakespeare, but now you’re going to find out just how much!
This year, I want to challenge myself, so I’ve set myself the task of performing every piece in Allie Esiri’s Shakespeare For Every Day Of The Year from
Martin McDonagh shows again he’s the master of black comedy with Wild Horse Nine.
There are multiple scenes that in any other film would be pure tearjerkers, but here, they’re beautifully bittersweet.
The entire film could just been Rockwell & Malkovich talking about the most
most random things (I particularly loved their discussion about gay countries & cheese) & it still wouldn’t have been any less than 4 stars!
Steve Buscemi is also fantastically funny (“I’m not a junkie, I just really like cocaine”), there’s a brilliant scene with Tom Waits &
particularly touching work from Mariana di Girolamo as a student who forms a bond with Malkovich’s veteran CIA agent. I only wish Parker Posey had gotten a role more worthy of her comedic gifts!
An exploration of morality & reckoning with life.

Ian Rickson turns his masterful hand at Chekhov again with The Cherry Orchard!
The marvellous Kristin Scott Thomas is utterly magnetic as Madame Ranevskaya, she pours so much heartache & longing into a single gaze. The always-outstanding Vinette Robinson is a heartbreaking Varya
the electrifying Jack Riddiford is hauntingly compelling as Trofimov, Stephen Mangan gives one of his best performances as Lopakhin, Anastasia Martin lends Anya a more mature command than her predecessors, Karl Johnson is perfectly cast as Firs & Peter Wight gives the best Gaev!

May those who live, work or holiday on top of this have nightmares about what lies beneath them. May they imagine the cries of the dying and may it keep them awake at night.
Robert Pattinson is bloody brilliant in Primetime. He submerges into Chris Hansen with a deliciously eerie effect.
He’s definitely getting into the Oscars SOME way this year!

Don’t miss this at the BFI!
Good thing Ken Russell’s masterpiece is being rediscovered, it BLEW me away.
Like Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, it’s a searingly powerful exposé on religious hypocrisy and how people in power will manipulate and abuse faith, relevant as ever!
The visuals in this film are off the holy scale. The sets that Derek Jarman designed are mesmerising!
I’ve never seen Vanessa Redgrave give a performance like her terrifyingly unhinged Sister Jeanne and Oliver Reed also gave one of his very best as Grandier.
P.S. This film also has the best Letterboxd reviews ever……

So sad to hear this.
One of the finest Macbeth’s ever played.

Watch this.
Lubna Speitan, author of the Greens4Palestine motion “Zionism is racism”, spells out the central obscenity of our age – the grotesque inversion whereby the victims of ethnic cleansing, Apartheid and genocide must constantly fend off accusations from their tormentors that it is they who are the racists.
“We as Palestinians are being silenced and gaslit and vilified [as we] witness the annihilation, the cold-blooded murder of our families, of our people… our children burnt with phosphorus, having to endure amputations with no anaesthetic, having their limbs torn and shredded, their bodies burnt by phosphorus, being starved to death … And to have to sit here … and try to bury my feelings so I can eloquently and diplomatically shield my anger, my rage, my anguish that every Palestinian is feeling, is an insult.” /1
