Who knew that so much of the 'infallible' lockdown science was just a PR exercise?
Lots of us actually.

Lockdowns were the greatest social and economic policy mistake in modern times. They destroyed economies, mental health, national confidence, healthcare systems, kids welfare and education, supply chains and helped create the cost of living crisis. They must never happen again.

The Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford has just blown up Justin Trudeau’s house of cards. In fact he’s just blown up the entire argument for mandates, vaccine passports and restrictions.
In what world does this make sense, or have any benefit?
Scotland's football stadiums can be at full capacity but a handful of athletes can't compete over a 400m because its being classed as a "contact sport"🤔. Thanks @scotgov @MareeToddMSP @NicolaSturgeon for once again making it harder to be an athlete north of the border

Although still too early to know if UK's decision to lift all restrictions in July will lead to fewer overall deaths, other key objective was to prevent the large Winter peaks in hospital & intensive care patients we are seeing in W. Europe (UK is now lowest on both counts)

Any update on this?
Record cases for Germany today with medical masks and ever stricter restrictions, lauded in print.
England cases have gone down every single day since article was published, without any.
What should Scotland do next..?
My new Guardian piece theguardian.com/commentisfre…
Is there a single piece of evidence that justifies ongoing restrictions, masked kids etc? Never mind adding vaccine passports
Replying to @ONS
Of all deaths in the UK in week ending 24 September, 1,108 involved #COVID19, up 5.6% from the previous week.
Northern Ireland had the highest proportion of deaths involving COVID-19 at 15.7%, followed by Scotland (13.6%), Wales (12.4%) and England (8.0%) ow.ly/Uu7j50GlUWm
Without restrictions, masks, vaccine passports, track and trace, English hospital cases “with COVID” drop by 22%. Over the same period the drop in Scotland is 3%.
The answer - more restrictions and vaccine passports, obviously. Wishful thinking remains strong up here.
The number of people in hospital with Covid in England has dropped from 6,424 to 5,036 since 13 September. coronavirus.data.gov.uk/deta…

I don't think vaccinating children is necessary.
The decision has been made. There should be absolutely no negative consequences for those children who do not to take it.
No threats, no exclusion from anything, no difference. It has to be a completely free choice.
Says it all, with background details in their published statement. Zero justification for overruling this.
Member of JCVI Professor Adam Finn says "there is a risk we could be doing more harm that good" by giving children aged between 12 and 15 a #COVID19 vaccine.

Everyone in Scotland, more like the world, should be hoping England reopening works. Pity many are gagging for it to fail.
There’s no easy exit;the least worst is combination of vaccinating vulnerable and letting life restart. It won’t be normality but it’s a start.
