1. Most jobs have some sort of dress code
2. Many jobs have some sort of equipment requirement
3. If you continually break either, there will be some sort of consequence, in some cases it could be severe.
4. The vast majority of schools out there don’t give an automatic detention the first time someone is late - I don’t know any that do.
5. Most children aren’t ‘scared’ of detentions. Quite a few couldn’t care less.
6. Try teaching in a mainstream school in a tough area where there are few rules and minimal negative consequences. See how it goes. See how you find teaching. Report back.

You need to focus on the skilled teachers leaving. Just getting more newly trained teachers won’t work. They need the support of the experienced teachers.
Those in classroom 15+ yrs, where is OUR incentive to keep going? It is the experienced teachers you need to hang onto!

🗓️ New revision resources
With May just around the corner, you might want students revising little and often. A calendar attached to the fridge will make it a visible reminder that turns into a habit. Here are 3 calendars for next month:

Over the last three weeks I have rang home for 30 out of the 154 students I teach maths.
Can’t tell you how beneficial it is to touch base with home for your relationship with the students.
If you haven’t done it yet, here is your sign to getting ringing ☎️
