Yay!! I love it! Please tell your students they did a phenomenal job!
After reading the Giving Tree and discussing the relationship between the boy and the tree, we rewrote an ending that shows a level of appreciation for this natural resource that is far too often taken advantage of. 🙏 @MrsKelly1122 for this incredible resource @HrceLiteracy

Our students love celebrating the #100thday with 100 Random Acts of Kindness from this week’s @the_seakers challenge. After two days we had to expand our #Jamboard. I can’t wait to see how many Acts of Kindness our 4th graders will complete. #Kindness #weareDelCerro #SVUSDshines

I love this BUNCH! Class Winter Cards are here and I am so excited!! Our Brady Bunch themed card was perfect for a year of ZOOM and social distancing. We even included a surprise QR code for that extra Brady pizzazz!

It only take a second to retweet a post, but it’s only one side of a story. We explored multiple perspectives & social media. Ss read tweets & posted reactions. Then read the backstories. Some felt guilty & embarrassed. We discussed how quickly judge, and the need for empathy.

Virtual BOOK TASTING! I love book tastings and wasn’t about to let a little distance stop us! I used slides for virtual genre tables and Epic! to create a collection of books for the students to “taste”. Add in some snacks, bistro music, and a virtual background! #makeitwork

Let the learning re-ZOOM! I have 30 tabs open on my computer, even more open in my brain. A check list that I add to more than check off. A stomach that should eat salad, but wants ice cream. I’m on a spinning wheel of emotions. But I can’t wait to see my smiling faces on Monday!

Let’s talk transitions! sitting on @zoom_us, going from Math to ELA to science can be tough. I made virtual backgrounds for each subject (with a spot for anchor charts to reference) to help- we know the power of a change of scenery! I’ll use these w/ my favorite transition songs!

I used @darinnakakihara form linking youtube tutorial to create a check out to track my Ss completion of daily assignments. Then used sheets formatting (thanks @teach3tech ) to automatically color code Ss understanding of each lesson for small groups and reteaching! #svusdshines

I teach my Ss that authors show their POV in the evidence that they choose to include, and the ones they choose to omit. To the OCBE. You made your POV VERY clear in the speakers you chose to include, and those you chose to omit. You aren’t fooling us Ts with this “public” forum.

I don't know who is prouder. The Lego Nerd in me who watched my 4 yr old persevere through this @LEGO_Group creation today. Or the teacher in me, whose heart burst when she looked through the info booklet included & asked if one day we could visit the Capital Building.

Tonight we had our Virtual Promotion Ceremony with all the families. Normally we start with the students walking on stage to the graduation song. This year I had to get creative. @TrabucoMesa @SVUSDSchools

#Virtualclassroom meets gif maker! Love my new #GoogleClassroom banner! The classroom touches, mixed with my humor and notorious clumsiness, were a must to include!

Well, this looked a little different this year doing it digitally, but the “mind blown” and “no way!” in the zoom chat was just as satisfying!
The idea of a 3D shape being laid flat to find surface area is a difficult concept to grasp... Until now! Loved these pull-up shapes we made today for surface area and volume! #svusdshines

Even through distance learning... there will be no memorizing of formulas! Today we “discovered” formulas as we explored the relationships between shapes.
No memorizing formulas! I love geometry, but hate memorizing formulas. We're studying area of polygons. Ss cut and manipulated shapes to see how each formula relates to that of a rectangle. I love seeing the excitement on their faces when they make connections! Demo in comments!

Shout out to @SVUSDSchools for being a Rockstar District through this shift! I hope to represent you well!

“Fail early and fail often.” I love this advice that Senior Blizzard Animator Casey McDermott, gave my Ss today. I brought back one of the Ss favorite activities- Mystery Guests! Ss are doing passion projects- mostly on art, coding, and animating- so this was the perfect guest!

That’s a wrap on Virtual Science Camp! Five nights of learning, laughing, and bonding. We explored the night sky, danced our hearts out, shared our furry friends, mapped out mountains, and roasted some marshmallows. A week full of memories and I’m one Happy Camper! #svusdshines

Welcome to Virtual Science Camp! We don’t have dirt trails, or critters, but memories will be made! Today we were supposed to go to 6th Grade Science Camp. Instead we have a choice board of camp activities and “campfire” nightly zoom meetings for lessons on astronomy and s’mores!
