In August of last year, I heard @SecKennedy speak about Good Energy during a press conference. I ordered the book, dove in head first, and after 7 days, my daughter needed to come off her afternoon medication she was taking in attempt to manage bipolar disorder. This was the first improvement in 6 years!
Then, one year ago today, we were watching the Nutrition Roundtable to see what more we could learn from @CaseyMeansMD on our family’s metabolic health journey.
Little did we know, our lives were about to change forever. I think our whole world might have stopped for a minute when @ChrisPalmerMD spoke. We changed her diet to a ketogenic diet, and within days, she was an entirely new person in all of the best ways.
This has been the best year of her life, and it’s been the best year for our family, too. She thanks me almost every single day, but today - it’s Dr. Palmer day in our house and she wanted to thank all of you herself! ❤️
So - we all thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

It's the FINAL day of the Quit Sugar Summit Metabolic Psychiatry Summit, and what a lineup to end with:
Dr. Chris Palmer
Dr. David Perlmutter
Prof. Zoltan Sarnyai
Mimi Morgan
Dr. Eline Dekeyster
Rachel Frase
Robert Sikes
Chris DeLisle
The work of @ChrisPalmerMD has shaped SO much of what I've learned on this journey. You don't want to miss this one!
This week had been an incredible week for Metabolic Psychiatry. It has meant more to me than I can put into words to see the initiatives, conversations, networks, and clinician training that have come out this week alone.
For six years, I was a mom doing everything right and watching my daughter get worse until metabolic psychiatry brought her back. This week, I got to speak alongside some of the greats in the field that I've learned from. The researchers, physicians and others who have lived it.
Science moves medicine.
Science moves policy.
But people move people.
And we don't need to wait for either to catch up before we start making better choices about what we're eating today.
This might be the end of summit, but it's just the beginning of the conversation.

Day 4 of the @QuitSugarSummit Metabolic Psychiatry Summit is happening right now!
This lineup is another one you don’t want to miss! Like the first 3 days, this lineup is yet another one that hits close to home for me.
When we took away the sugar and ultra-processed foods and built our family’s plates from real whole foods, everything changed. From treatment resistant to remission from serious mental illness in just 6 weeks. 🧠
The food on our plates matters. SO much more than we’ve ever been told.
The paradigm shifting field of metabolic psychiatry is not just a scientific movement, it’s also a movement fuelled by real people with lived experiences who have been through the trenches of mental and metabolic health and found their way out with metabolic therapies.
Don’t miss day 4!

Cookie dough doesn’t need to be a blood sugar rollercoaster full of ultraprocessed ingredients. 🍪
Butter. Egg yolks. Coconut flour. 100% dark chocolate chips. Monk fruit. Salt. No refined sugar. No refined grains. No seed oils. No sugar crash an hour later.
Just real-food ingredients, healthy fats, and a sweet treat that keeps the carbs low.
We don’t always have to give up the foods we love. We just need to rethink the ingredients.
🍪 Edible Cookie Dough
¾ cup softened butter
½ cup coconut flour
2 egg yolks
35 drops liquid monk fruit
1 tsp coarse sea salt
2 tbsp 100% dark chocolate chips
Directions
Mix softened butter, egg yolks, and liquid monk fruit until smooth and creamy. Add coconut flour and salt, mixing until combined. Fold in chopped chocolate. Grab the spoons.
I love when dinner requires (almost) no clean up.
Bacon jam wild caught salmon.
Dill pickle sauerkraut.
3 forks.

Good morning!
Coffee is something many of us love and those who work with me know that I’m a big advocate of finding better ways to enjoy your morning coffee. Because morning coffee isn’t supposed to be dessert setting you up for potential disaster.
Mine is an organic decaf. It has butter, MCT oil, egg yolk, sea salt and cinnamon today.
No sugar. No flavoured creamer. No oat milk pretending to be a health food.
Sugar and carbohydrate-heavy coffee drinks can send blood sugar climbing, setting us up for energy crashes, hunger, hanger, increased appetite and cravings, and keeping us stuck in fight or flight even when there might be nothing to fight or flee from.
And it’s not just physical. Blood sugar swings can also contribute to brain fog, irritability, anxiety, difficulty concentrating and mood changes.
Add caffeine, poor sleep and chronic stress? You may be setting yourself up for a rough one before the day even begins.
I choose fat for fuel, nutrients for my brain, and zero added sugar.
Feed your body. Not your symptoms.

The food we were told was healthy isn't nourishing our kids. The modern food supply was built for profit, not for growing brains. And the current approach to mental health too often waits until our children are in crisis to react and still fails to offer better outcomes.
I know because I lived it.
I did everything I was told to do. And I watched my daughter get worse for six years.
Facing this isn't about guilt. It's about power. Because once we see it, we can change it. In our kitchens, at our tables, and in our communities.
We need ALL hands on deck. Not just in the medical system. We need parents rallying together, learning together and demanding better together.
Our children deserve the absolute best.
I'm sharing our full story today at the @quitsugarsummit Metabolic Psychiatry Summit, October 21–25, online and FREE.

September 23rd, 2024 - I heard @ChrisPalmerMD speak about his Brain Energy Theory and ketogenic metabolic therapies at the Nutrition Roundtable.
3 days later, my daughter entered remission from a treatment resistant serious mental illness that we had tried everything to help her find relief from for 6 years. I had spent my life feeling anxious with a brain that would never slow down until I woke up that morning with a quiet and calm I had never felt before.
I shared our story at the @QuitSugarSummit Metabolic Psychiatry Summit, happening NOW!
41 speakers (including Dr. Palmer!) over 5 days connecting metabolism and the brain. You do not want to miss this line up!

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT: @SecKennedy announces 2026 update for the National Plan to Address Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias.
4 Commitments ⬇️
1️⃣ Reduce dementia risk by confronting long-term risk factors
2️⃣ Accelerate discovery through investment in robust science
3️⃣ Improve care for patients to get clear answers and care they can afford
4️⃣ Strengthen services for families caring for loved ones to help preserve independence
Day 2 of the @QuitSugarSummit Metabolic Psychiatry Summit is underway and I’m speaking TODAY!
I’m sharing our journey and I don’t sugarcoat it.
Six years of doing everything right and watching my daughter get worse. A lifetime of my own struggles without any lasting relief.
I discuss the moment everything changed. What I learned and the uncomfortable truths about how we got here and what we need to be willing to accept responsibility for in order to help our children, ourselves, and our families achieve better, healthier outcomes.
If you’ve ever felt like you’ve tried everything… I’ve been there. I wish I had known this all along. That’s why I will continue to advocate for metabolic therapies to be the first thing we discuss when talking about our mental and physical health instead of trying everything else first and finding it as a last resort.
The summit runs October 21–25, online and FREE.

Today we introduce the Global Network for the Advancement of Metabolic Psychiatry, MetPsy, built for researchers and clinicians dedicated to advancing metabolic interventions in mental health.
MetPsy gives the global community one place to find collaborators, access shared best practices and training, and follow the latest research. It also offers funders a clear entry point to support the field as it moves from promising studies to clinical implementation.
The launch coincides with a $20 million grant from Baszucki Group to establish the McLean Center for Metabolic Psychiatry at @McLeanHospital, a member of Mass General Brigham. A defining initiative for the field, the Center will combine research, clinical practice, and specialized training to deliver metabolic approaches in psychiatric care at scale, a model we hope will set the stage for others to follow.
