This week, I’ve spoken with not one, not two, not three, but four families of children with #Dyslexia. Even with a diagnosis, most parents don’t know the questions to ask their child’s school. It’s hard to advocate when you don’t know what to advocate for.🤔
Families of children with dyslexia need to be informed of what dyslexia is, what it’s not, what instructional approach their child needs to learn to read, and what in-school remediation options are available.
I’ve created this resource to support families in my school district this year. Please feel free to share with families in your school community, too! Because informed families are stronger advocates. #RightToRead #StructuredLiteracy

🧠 ✨ Have you used Morpheme Mapper in your classroom?
It is a tool that educators and students can use to explore the breakdown of morphemes within words they are exploring!

Hey Ontario Teachers - wondering how #UFLI fits into our curriculum? I put this together to ensure the UFLI lessons fit to our curriculum expectations from the B2 language foundations continuum (appendix A) - and guess what? IT DOES!

“Research has clearly indicated the critical need to provide high-quality,
intensive instructional interventions to students at risk for reading difficulty as soon as possible.” (Snow, Burns, & Griffin, 1998).
This article by @janhasbrouck is a MUST-read for all teachers in training in Faculties of Education. Next week, we will be discussing the implications of oral reading fluency for our L2 students.

I'm putting together "Fast Fact Sheets" about the science of reading. They're two-sided summaries of the research with implications for teaching and a reference list - I hope this makes them easy for teachers to print and share with colleagues! themeasuredmom.com/wp-conten…
