Seriously, you need to listen to Baroque music. It is the pinnacle of music achievement. Start with Telemann. Then Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, and Purcell. Then Monteverdi to understand the transition from Renaissance to Baroque. Then Hadyn to understand the transition from Baroque to Classical. Veracini to add some spontaneity. Pachelbell to add some serenity. This will undoubtedly improve the quality of your life in every way imaginable. In 3 years, come back and thank me for improving your life by imparting this wisdom to you. You’re welcome in advance. ❤️

The fuck is York not even on there? It was the capital for longer than London.
What do you consider to be Britain's second city? Manchester: 34% of Britons Birmingham: 30% Edinburgh: 12% Liverpool: 3% Glasgow: 3% Cardiff: 2% Leeds: 1% Newcastle: 1% Bristol: 1%

I went to my grandson’s 7th birthday party today with his 4 siblings and 5 of his cousins and it was worth 100 childless trips to some foreign shore where no one loved me.

This is a recently completed British train station. It is pathetic, value engineered to a level of comatose ugliness that dispirits & dulls the mind, dissuading passengers & degrading the trains that run through it. It is not civic or sociable architecture....

Small children benefit immensely from their mothers' presence before starting school, which provides them with the best foundation for life. It is concerning to see infants and young toddlers pushed into crowded nurseries simply because it is the only way parents can afford to maintain a roof over their heads. This situation is a significant factor contributing to the record-low birth rate in the UK. Mothers who want to stay at home with their babies in those crucial early years need to be respected and supported.

"Just make things look beautiful" is a surprisingly good answer to many things
A remarkable survey by @DeltapollUK finds that the British public may sometimes tolerate - indeed, support - huge increases in urban density, if the increase yields an aesthetic improvement.

I'm glad the NEC now agrees though I wish they'd listened 7 years ago when in 2018, with Rother Valley CLP, I brought this motion to Labour conference. It wasn’t easy, but I stood firm and would again and again. Women’s rights matter and the Supreme Court has now confirmed it.
🚨EXCLUSIVE | Labour set to formally declare it believes trans women are men, says leaked NEC paper. The paper, due to be voted on tomorrow (20 May), means Labour will **ban** trans women from: ❌ All-women shortlists ❌ Women's Conference ❌ Being Women's Officers See below👇

I’ll always be grateful for the solidarity of @LabWomenDec of which I’m proud to be a founding signatory. The support of principled, courageous women made it possible to take that stand in 2018. We spoke up because we had to and we were right to do so!

The Supreme Court ruling is a turning point but now the Gov must act. The Data Bill needs amending to ensure we can collect accurate data on sex. Policy must be rooted in reality if it’s to serve women, and all of us, fairly.

Thank you Sonia for exoressing this. "Male demand for prostitution is not innate. Governments shape it through legislation."
Women being killed is a feature, not a bug, of prostitution. If Labour is serious about its target to halve male violence against women & girls it must criminalise buying sex and the pimps & websites that profit from prostituting women. Today's column. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

#OTD 1969. Open University receives Royal Charter. Jennie Lee’s White Paper on the “University of the Air” was initially dismissed as “Wilson’s Pipe Dream” by the press. It would enable millions of people access to higher education. Thread 👇🏼
