This was shared with me from an Area Superintendent who received it from a Principal. Nobody knows what pressure, stress or burden someone else is facing. #GiveGrace #BeKindAlways

I don’t know who needs to hear this but..
Teachers, you are freaking amazing.
🍎 This is hard.
🍎 This is exhausting.
🍎 This is time-consuming
And you are killing it.
Take care of you.

For decades, the focus of K-12 education has been on reading and math. Social studies and science are given minamal time. Yet here we are in a global pandemic and racial unrest because people lack the basic understanding and principles of history and science. 🤦🏿🤷🏾♀️
Searching for some ways to be actively Anti-Racist in the Science Classroom... if anyone can help a girl find some resources please DM me!

Ok fam- Phillips is looking for a Literacy Multi-Classroom Leader. They’ll be responsible for supporting ELA/SS, creating Banner (SEL/identity focused) curriculum, and more. Looking for someone humble, hungry and deeply committed to place and equity. Spread the word, please!!!
How to love people during this time?? STAY HOME IF YOU FEEL SYMPTOMS! It sucks, but it’s the only way to keep everyone safe.

It’s important to change this trajectory. I never had a black male teacher in my K-12 educational career. I will never forget the unparalleled pride I felt when I had Dr. O at ECU when I was getting my Masters degree...
This is one of the most useful reads I have found so far on how to actually build next year. Check it out!
This post had me from the first recommendation “1.The first weeks of school should be devoted to community building & digital competency” but the whole list is spot on! 9 Ways Online Teaching Should be Different from Face-to-Face #edchat #onlinelearning cultofpedagogy.com/9-ways-on…
Teachers are going to have to really get creative with assessments- with virtual learning you have to assume everything is open book. Might have to really dig into more application based DOK 3 level knowledge... which could be a great thing!

I didn't know what to say. Generally, people need to listen to wiser voices than my own. But I know there's a lot of school and district leaders who follow me. And I want to make sure that right now, they do more than express solidarity with protesters.
