What a game! Classic. Oakville takes the lead with 14 left in the first half. Chaminade ties it about 7 minutes before the end, then wins it with less than four minutes left. Absolutely brilliant atmosphere.

Yep…
If you’re not willing to risk it all, you’ll never create anything truly new. Living in the world of high performance can be one of the loneliest places to exist. You walk a razor-thin line between success and failure, constantly challenging boundaries, questioning conventions, and pushing yourself beyond what others consider possible. But perhaps the greatest challenge of all is authenticity: having the courage to be unapologetically true to who you are, what you believe, and what you stand for, even when it makes others uncomfortable. Try living with that level of authenticity for just one day. No masks. No compromises. No pretending to be someone you’re not. No changing your convictions to fit in or seeking approval to make others feel comfortable. You might discover just how difficult it really is. Because when you stop trying to please everyone, not everyone will stay. Some will misunderstand you. Others will walk away. And you may find yourself standing alone more often than you ever expected. But that is the price of choosing conviction over conformity, truth over comfort, and creation over convention. Sometimes, the loneliest path is the one that leads to something extraordinary.

The reality in the U.S. is this: If we put a spotlight on the Entry Level, the stage where parents can create, at zero cost, an environment in the home where development can flourish, and help families understand that the benefits go far beyond simply developing football skills, we could solve football’s biggest problem: Failure at the Foundational Phase. That one fundamental fix could transform football in an entire country.😉⚽️

If you get the very bottom of the pyramid right, you don’t need to overcomplicate coaching at the youngest ages. Build a strong foundation, then give children the opportunity to play, lots of small-sided games, with volunteer or inexperienced parent-coaches who aren’t constantly stopping play every 30 seconds to shout instructions. That environment starts to recreate something we’ve largely lost: street football. Here in Japan, children aged 6–12 can train four or more days a week, with the majority of that time spent playing small-sided games. At weekends, they can play for half a day. That’s essentially organized street football. And that volume of play matters far more than having highly qualified coaches standing on the touchline telling 6-year-olds what to do. Give children the right environment, enough repetition, freedom to make decisions, and thousands of opportunities to solve problems for themselves. Get the foundation right, and coaching at the youngest ages becomes almost irrelevant. The game becomes the teacher.

Forget pay to play… How about Stay to Play? The cynical “you must stay in this hotel (add this exorbitant rate) or you cannot play” policies that the intelligentsia foists upon people. The same intelligentsia that tells you high school soccer sucks. lnkd.in/p/gtkGPhai
