Trying to get from Liverpool street to Ipswich. Given there is only one train an hour Cambridge to Ipswich, is there the remotest chance the 18.44 Cambridge to Ipswich train can be held for a few minutes, to take people arriving in Cambridge from Liverpool Street at 18.49?

Must read article from @MuchMore_Less on switching from a cash ISA to a stocks and shares ISA in @thisismoney. Faith successfully used four investment trusts - City of London, @FinsburyGT, Temple Bar and @ScotMortgage_UK. @AICPRESS tinyurl.com/cjweek4y
Perhaps you are not familiar with the rest of the already over-complicated ISA system? Eg my article from 2018 ukmoneybloggers.com/diatribe…
Not increasing basic or higher rates of income tax - is additional rate going up?

Knight Frank and Savills must be sobbing into their lattes with the introduction of a high value council tax charge on homes worth more than £2 million
#budget #budget2025
Big relief that the new ‘high value council tax surcharge’ only affects homes worth more than £2 million
#budget #budget2025
Income tax and national insurance thresholds frozen for another 3 years, right through until 2031
This means many more people will be pushed into paying income tax, or into higher ratea of income tax, as wages go up but tax thresholds don’t

Aaaarrrgggh more over complication of the ISA system
From April 2027, £8,000 of the £20,000 ISA allowance will be ‘exclusively for investment, ie the cash ISA allowance will be cut to £12,000
BUT not for over 65s, they can still use the whole £20k for cash

[AD] Why do some pension transfers take so long?
I’m supporting @pensionbee's petition for a 10-day pension transfer limit
Lengthy transfers can stop people taking control of their pensions, leaving them trapped in poor value or unsuitable funds

End of an era - the Nutmeg brand is being ditched, from November, in favour of J.P.Morgan Personal Investing
Plus next year they'll be offering a DIY investment platform alongside the managed portfolios
Stark reality of rising house prices:
in 2004, around 70% of 35 to 44 year olds owned their home.
That dropped to 50% in 2024, according to @PPI_Research

Thanks so much Jim. My 17-year-old did fill in the Lost & Found form asap on Sunday while on the plane home, but hasn’t heard back, and I did wonder if the sketchbook might just have ended up behind a counter in the McDonalds.
