UDA and ODM just formalised their Broad-Based “marriage” for 2027. Joint manifesto. Coalition. ODM even said no presidential candidate of their own — they’ll back Ruto.
Yet every other week it’s the same script:
Who gets the DP slot?
50/50 power sharing or what?
Loyalty tests in Nyanza.
Fence-sitters being told to pick a side.
Mt Kenya still on fire with Gachagua vs Kindiki.
One side is talking “umbilical cord”, the other is still counting cabinet seats like dowry negotiations that never end.
Same story with the opposition. They meet, form secretariats, plan retreats… then the fighting starts all over again about who should be the flagbearer. Kalonzo, Sifuna, Matiang’i, Gachagua — everyone wants to be the main character.
Kenyan politics in one line:
We can share power, we can share stages, we can even share the government…
But somehow we still can’t just be friends.
How do you build a future with someone you still treat like an enemy the moment the cameras switch off?
Wakenya are watching. And the 2027 ballot is going to ask the same question the song did.
