Going above and beyond for a vulnerable customer 💙 Recently, Bus Station Controller Winsome was working at Harrow Bus Station when an elderly customer approached her window and asked to buy a ticket to Athens, Greece. Winsome quickly realised that the customer was upset and confused. After taking the time to sit and talk with her, she discovered that she couldn’t remember her postcode. Rather than simply directing her elsewhere, Winsome went the extra mile. She accompanied the customer on a 30-minute walk home, supported her when she nearly fell, and stayed with her until she knew she was safely home. When they arrived, the customer’s daughter spoke through the doorbell camera to thank Winsome for bringing her home safely. The following day, Winsome arrived at work to find a handwritten card and flowers from the customer’s family. She learned that the lady had dementia, and her daughter was incredibly grateful for the kindness and care Winsome had shown. Thank you, Winsome, for going above and beyond to support a vulnerable customer and for showing such compassion and kindness. #TfLCares #CustomerService #LondonTransport

We went to @readingmuseum and saw the EXCELLENT full-scale replica, FREE and with no queues. About eight others in the gallery. We stayed for over an hour and took all the photos we wanted. The information panels were superb and the £1 leaflet should win an award: exemplary.

The UK stands with the International Criminal Court and we stand united with our partners in strongly disagreeing with sanctions imposed on the Court. The ICC must be permitted to continue its critical work holding perpetrators of the most horrific international crimes to account.

Taxpayers’ Alliance (@the_tpa) have a popular tool showing benefit spending in each local authority Sadly – some stats in the tool are very misleading. By excluding a bunch of benefits, they exaggerate growth in spending -- this is detrimental to the public debate Details:

This is a bad IHT cut. For the same money we could increase the nil rate band to £900k/person, or alternatively cut the rate from 40% to 17.5%. Either would be simpler, fairer, and not distort the housing market.

Westminster Conservatives are threatening to scrap West End Live, they say we “get nothing from it”. Tell that to the 70,000 people who attend, the £4.5m generated locally and the residents who get to experience a show they might otherwise never afford. mylondon.news/news/zone-1-ne…

BREAKING: this week's papers have been full of a story that Britain's 2nd-richest person left the UK for Monaco this summer, driven offshore by non-dom and other tax changes. Only one problem: according to official docs, he left the UK over a decade ago. taxwatchuk.org/how-many-time…

The Wild West approach to dockless e-bikes can't continue. I've set out my plans to improve safety and data sharing, tackle poor parking and create consistent standards across London ⬇️

Interesting. Macron's great-grandfather was a British FWW soldier stationed on the Somme who just never went home.

In the summer of 2021, the current Tory shadow chancellor Andrew Griffith called for the Triple Lock to be put to one side because it was delivering what he viewed as an excessive increase in the state pension. And he hoped “that we can build consensus on what should not really be a subject of controversy but a sensible and pragmatic response to post pandemic management of the economy.” Bit Burnhamesque all that conservativehome.com/2021/08…
