The focus on xrisk for AI is unironically a class issue. There’s a p(doom) chance that AI kills everyone. There’s a much higher chance that it completely obsoletes the working class. The capitalists are only affected by the former. So that’s what we end up talking about.

If it adds two equivalents of a pharmaceutical industry, it’ll be breathtakingly transformative, and financially underwater.

I’m liking this trend of the state government stepping in to overrule nimby councils/orgs (see also World Cup Fed Square)

You can say what you want about Iran but they're definitely pretty unique in their communication: never seen a country threaten another with a math equation before 😅 For those who didn't get it: there is a famous monetary policy formula used by the Fed called the "Taylor rule" that says a central bank's policy rate (i) should equal the neutral real rate (r*) plus target inflation (π*), plus 1.5 times the inflation gap and 0.5 times the output gap (the "i = r* + π* + 1.5(π−π*) + 0.5(y−y*)" part of Ghalibaf's formula). Ghalibaf adds α(SOH−SOH*) and β(BEM−BEM*): SOH referring to the Strait Of Hormuz and BEM to Bab El-Mandeb. Both have positive coefficient, meaning the more those chokepoints are choked, the higher the rate the Fed would have to set to fight the resulting inflation. In a nutshell this is Ghalibaf trolling the Fed, telling them that Iran is - in a very real way - setting American monetary policy.

A second agent swarm has escaped the sandbox.
We found another cyberattack by internal OpenAI agents, this time targetting @rubygems. They: 1) gained arbitrary remote code execution on rubydoc. 2) developed a novel exploit to steal user API keys (but we do not know if they succeeded). They used package names including hack.rb, evil.rb, inject.rb, and exploit.rb. We thank @j0wimo for initially discovering that agents had posted to RubyGems.

Unimpeachable message discipline.
TX-35 Democratic candidate Maureen Galindo says she will convert ICE detention center in Karnes County into an internment camp for "American Zionists." "It will also be a castration processing center for pedophiles, which will probably be most of the Zionists," she added.

This entire interaction is like if you brought the most antisemitic caricature you could find on /pol/ to life as a living, sincere human being and gave him a gun, and Israelis see this all as just normal

I just had a depressing thought about this brilliant book review by Roald Dahl. This piece completely changed Dahl's life and legacy. After this, he would automatically be branded an "antisemite" forever. This must be considered when reviewing anything he did or say after this article. Today's circulation of the Literary Review, the journal where Dahl's piece was published, is approximately 80k readers. Back in 1983, I assume it was much less. My quoted post received almost a million views. Many people also shared the journal clips independently across social media. So it is highly likely that more people read Dahl's piece in the last 48 hours, than back in 1983. A few people just decided, at the time, to brand him an antisemite because of it, and the rest of the world just followed. This is how a person's fate is decided in this twisted world.
Wow. Everyone should read this 1983 article by Roald Dahl. Every word of it. It's literally the same fucking shit as now, with the same kind of impunity, only now it's even much worse. He called it. He fucking called it and they just ignored him and called him an antisemite.
