"A father, a son, a sacrifice, a substitute..."
You know what wrecked me when I was newly Christian? Genesis 22. For years as a Muslim, I was told the story was about Ishmael. Then I actually read it. I think the bigger topic isn't Isaac or Ishmael. It's this: Why would God ask Abraham to sacrifice his son in the first place? What kind of God does that? The answer hit me like a freight train, because it shattered my Muslim worldview. God wasn't being cruel, He was painting a picture. Abraham never goes through with sacrificaing Isaac. God stops him, then God provides a ram in his place. That action is not just a test or an isolated story: That's prophetic. It's a blueprint. The blueprint goes: A father. A son. A sacrifice. A substitute. You see where I am going with this. Genesis 22 is actually the heartbeat of the Gospel. God was foreshadowing the day when He Himself would provide the sacrifice. Not for one man. Not only for one family. But for the whole world. Of course, salvation wasn't earned by Abraham's performance. It came through God's provision. You can recieve this substitute and gift. Here's what made me stop and think: The Quran retells the story of Genesis 22, but removes the name of the son. Why? Because once you start following the thread through Genesis, the prophets, and the covenant promises, you eventually have to wrestle with the Lamb that comes later. You have to wrestle with Jesus. The perfect sacrifice that every previous sacrifice pointed toward. And that's when I realized: The story was never ultimately about Abraham. It was always about what God was going to do for us. And there's nothing we can do to earn His approval! We can only receive the sacrifice He already provided.

Tens of millions of evangelical Christians sit out elections, and millions aren't even registered to vote. Imagine the impact if believers showed up. Our faith isn't meant to stay inside church walls. Get registered, get informed, and vote. It's time to get off the sidelines. βœοΈπŸ—³οΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
Arizona's Chirst Church of the Valley and one of the largest churches in the nation just told its members to go vote! Pastor preached about the Holy Spirit this morning and said Christians need to stop sitting on sidelines.

Whoa. Hard truths for each and every one of us that loves freedom but is unwilling to stand up to the godlessness that swirls around us.
This is why we cannot give up the fight in communicating the truth no matter how uncomfortable it becomes. The level of evil they have normalized is terrifying. They're labeling good as evil and evil as good while they turn the world completely upside down and if we give up now, they will continue to do so.

I had never seen this clip anywhere before. This guy is an actual, biblically defined heretic. If you wonder why I have a bit more of an edge when I'm talking about James Talarico, this is why πŸ‘‡

This feels especially satisfying...
With the Dolphins win today, the Chargers now are the NFL’s lone winless team.

Finally defrosted those beef marrow bones and roasted them. They turned out great, but not before I set the smoke alarm off and the dogs freaked out. Poor babies. πŸ˜πŸ’”

I want to share a little story about @KenPaxtonTX that nobody else knows. Back in 2014, our daughter Kaitlyn was a freshman at Baylor University, along with Ken’s youngest daughter, Abby. Apparently, Kaitlyn had decided her freshman year should include a side career in rescuing stray dogs. πŸ˜‚ After finding yet another dog that needed a home, she called and asked me to drive to Waco to pick it up. I told her, β€œKaitlyn, you’re going to have to find somebody else’s parent this time. I cannot keep driving to Waco collecting stray dogs!” A little while later, she called back and said, β€œIt’s okay, Mom. Abby’s dad will take him.” Abby’s dad was Ken Paxton. And sure enough, Ken drove to Waco, picked up that black Lab, took him home, and made him part of their family. I’ve remembered that story for more than a decade because I’ve always believed the little things tell you an awful lot about someone’s character. There were no cameras, no reporters, and no political points to be scored. Just a daughter who called her dad because a dog needed a home. And her dad showed up. I’ve watched Ken Paxton fight for Texas as our Attorney General, taking on powerful interests and standing firm in battles that weren’t always easy or popular. His record is unmatched by any other AG nationwide. But long before I knew much about his political record, I got a little glimpse of the man behind the title. And sometimes, those are the stories that tell you the most about a person. I’m exceptionally proud to support Ken Paxton, and I know he will make an outstanding Senator for Texas. Because Texas doesn’t need another politician who knows how to win an election. We need a fighter who knows how to stand his ground when it matters most.

Learned a new word today: PANDICULATION [pan-dik-yuh-lay-shuhn]: The involuntary combination of a full-body stretch and a yawn. Elaboration: This reflex is hardwired into the nervous systems of humans and other mammals, typically occurring during transitions between sleep and wakefulness or after periods of inactivity. It serves to reset the central nervous system, release muscle tension accumulated during rest, and restore voluntary control over muscles by contracting them before stretching. Personal warning: may trigger excruciating cramps in feet, calves, or thighs.
