אני רואה בימים האחרונים את מצעד האיוולת של שורה של פרשנים, עיתונאים מטעם, בוטים ואנשים בעלי דעות קדומות, לעיתים עם נימה גזענית בולטת. לא משנה מה אני אומר, מה אני עושה ומהי האמת, הם תמיד עסוקים בייחוס מניעים זדוניים ובהמצאת קונספירציות.
מי שתוקף אותי על הניסיונות להגיע להבנות עם המפלגות החרדיות, נמנה עם אותם אנשים שמעדיפים להקים ממשלה הנשענת על רע"ם והרשימה המשותפת. מפלגות שחלק מהח"כים שלהם מזדהים באופן פומבי עם חמאס, מגדירים אותו ארגון צדקה ומאשימים את מדינת ישראל ברצח עם ובפשעים נגד האנושות.
אני רוצה להבהיר באופן חד-משמעי: זה לא יקרה. לא אתן יד להקמת ממשלה כזאת, שלתפיסתי תפגע בביטחון ותחזיר את נתניהו לשלטון.
במציאות שנוצרה, על מנת למנוע בחירות נוספות ולשים קץ לעידן נתניהו, אין מנוס מקבלת החלטות קשות ומהכרעה בסוגיות שבהן ניתן לגלות גמישות ולהגיע להבנות.
הבנה אינה ויתור על עקרונות, והידברות אינה מחיקה של קווים אדומים.
אני עדיין סבור שהמודל הנכון הוא חוק גיוס לכולם. יחד עם זאת, לנוכח תוצאות הבחירות, עלינו לבחון אפשרויות להגיע להסכמות, גם על בסיס מתווים שגובשו בעבר.
בשנת 2018 הבאתי הצעת חוק גיוס שנוסחה על ידי צה"ל ומערכת הביטחון. בהמשך פורסם דו"ח שקדי, והקואליציה הנוכחית גיבשה הצעת חוק משלה. ברור לי שלאחר אירועי 7 באוקטובר גם החוק שהצעתי בשנת 2018 מחייב שינויים והתאמות, אך הוא עדיין מהווה בסיס ראוי לגיבוש הסכמות.
לא ויתרתי על עקרון הגיוס, ולא על המחויבות להרחבת ההטבות ולשיפור מעמדם של משרתי המילואים ואנשי הקבע.
אני מזכיר כי בתקופת כהונתי כשר האוצר העליתי את שכר החיילים בסדיר ב-50%, ובהמשך הכנסתי את תוכנית "ממדים ללימודים" לתקציב המדינה.
אני לא פועל מתוך אמביציה אישית להיות ראש ממשלה בכל מחיר. הדגשתי תמיד שמבחינתי זו אופציה ולא אובססיה. מאז 2019 ועד היום אני מקבל אין ספור הצעות מפתות מהצד השני. אני לא עסוק בתרגילים פוליטיים ולא מנסה להכשיל אף אחד.
אני פועל ואמשיך לפעול מתוך מחויבות אחת בלבד: טובת מדינת ישראל ועם ישראל. זה מה שהנחה אותי לאורך כל הדרך, ורק זה יעמוד לנגד עיניי בכל החלטה שאקבל.
