Nigerian Breweries

It was a pleasure to receive the management of Nigerian Breweries Plc yesterday, led by their Corporate Affairs Director, Sade Morgan. The purpose of the visit was to foster business relations with the state government. She gave an overview of the NB Plc operations in Abia, which has spanned over five decades. She stated that the company has been fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities and has executed several projects in the areas of education, health, water, and electricity in various communities of the state. She also highlighted the poor condition of the road leading to their facility as one of the major challenges affecting their operations in the state. They appealed to the State Government to intervene and rehabilitate the dilapidated road to help sustain their investment in the area. We appreciated their corporate social responsibility initiatives and assured them of the State Government's commitment to creating a conducive environment for businesses. We informed them of the reforms we have implemented in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) system through the introduction of the Treasury Single Account. We also mentioned the legislation we have enacted on multiple taxation to enhance the ease of doing business. We promised to consider their request to fix the road leading to their facility and to continue to ensure security and stability in the state. We look forward to a more fruitful collaboration with them in the future.
