Some legacies deserve more than remembrance. They deserve to be carried forward. NC United is honored to announce the inaugural Caden Perry Warrior Scholarship. Caden embodied the courage, resilience, discipline, heart, and unwavering refusal to quit that wrestling is meant to build. This $1,000 wrestling-support award will help one North Carolina wrestler in grades 6–12 with wrestling expenses—including club dues, private lessons, small-group training, camps, tournaments, travel, or gear—while recognizing an athlete whose response to genuine adversity reflects Caden’s warrior spirit. This is not about rankings, records, or championships. It is about how a young person responds when life gets hard—and what that response reveals about their character. We welcome the entire wrestling community to nominate a worthy recipient. Nominations open August 1 and close August 30. The inaugural recipient will be honored September 19 at the NC United Tournament of Champions in Apex. The future is bright for those who refuse to quit. The difference is the model. Families are paying $15K–$20K+ per year to compete at a high level. That’s the reality. The question is — what are we doing about it? A true 501(c)(3) (non-profit) model changes everything: Community-backed funding Tax-deductible donations More access for more athletes (Scholarships) A path where athletes can actually earn support (Life development skills) This isn’t theory. You've raised $7K+ in 1 week. The system works — if we use it. The Spartan Raise is just the start. To scale this across the state, it takes: Families Athletes Community Corporate support We can keep doing what we’ve always done…and keep getting the same results. Or we change the model — and change the outcome.
