Parliament is back in session tomorrow and we're bringing the voice of the people to the halls of power.
At our caucus meeting earlier this month, we met with community organizers to hear about the work they're doing on the front lines of one of Canada's most expensive cities — from unions to food banks and housing organizers and many more.
While workers struggle to make ends meet, the Liberals have made it clear they're going to use this fall's session to attack the right to strike, push through privatization and more.
At this critical moment for our country, Avi Lewis and your NDP MPs are keeping up the fight for bold solutions to make life better for the many, not the money.

The Prime Minister called Bill C-39 the most consequential legislation in decades. This is True.
It tramples on environmental protections and Indigenous and workers’ rights, while handing ministers king powers to override constitutional safeguards in the name of the “national interest.”
Our Constitutional rights are not an inconvenience. So are the Liberals, with the help of the Conservative, really trying to build a strong Canada, or are they just working together to build a pipeline to the courts?

Prime Minister Carney is granting the wishes of foreign corporations at the expense of Canadian workers, Indigenous nations, democratic accountability, and our environment. Bill C-39 is so fundamentally flawed that it cannot be fixed through amendments.
This is private equity, this is what it does.
Buy up businesses, run them into the ground, and rip them apart for short-term profit.
The developers at BioWare know how to run the studio. They know how to make the games we all love. They should be given the first opportunity - and the federal support - to buy it and run it themselves.
And if we want to avoid the Mass Effect effect in Canada, we should be keeping private equity out, not welcoming it in.

BC, advance voting ends everywhere at 8pm PT today. Don't delay!
This is a pivotal election for our province. As a British Columbian, I’m deeply concerned about what a BC Conservative government would do to our province, particularly the most vulnerable folks in our communities.
I’ll be doing my part to defeat the Conservatives and elect a progressive government by voting for my NDP candidate Lara Honrado on Saturday.

I’m hearing from friends in Alberta that today is actually hitting folks pretty hard. Not the vote to remain, which was a relief, but the other 9 questions.
It’s becoming clear that the feeling of unity suggested by the referendum result is undercut by majority support for questions which feature policies that scapegoat migrants.
But no amount of punching down by Danielle Smith will fix Alberta’s health care, public education or cost-of-living crises. These are the consequences of years of underfunding, not of newcomers trying to build a life in that beautiful province.
Albertans deserve real solutions to the crises they face, not scapegoating that divides us and fuels prejudice. Right now, all Canadians have an opportunity to reject this and say: we stand with migrants facing the brunt of this cynical, negative politics.
A united Canada must mean more than just rejecting separation. It must mean actually standing up for all of us — building a movement across our differences to make this a country where everyone can live a life of dignity, equality and belonging.
Bon anniversaire, Tommy.
Tommy Douglas knew then what New Democrats still know today.
If we could mobilize the resources of this country to defeat Nazi tyranny, there is no reason we cannot do the same to make sure that each and every person has what they need to live a dignified life.
Happy Birthday, Tommy.

The Liberal government is rushing Bill C-39 through Parliament without proper scrutiny. On their special committee, they’ve limited testimonies from dissenting voices to just eight hours. It’s clear that this government doesn’t care what Canadians have to say.
At a time when our country is under threat, it’s heartening to see well over a million Albertans come together to reject separation and choose Canada.
This result was something that many people worked exceptionally hard for, and I am grateful for their efforts. I want to give special recognition to MP Heather McPherson for everything she did to help achieve this victory.
She also raised the alarm about the disturbing foreign interference that went on in the referendum process. We need clear answers about efforts by MAGA-aligned operatives to influence the outcome of this vote. The integrity of our democratic processes should not be up for debate.
Great meeting with you today! Supply management is crucial for Canadian farmers who feed Canadians. New Democrats are committed to making sure it stays protected.
On Saturday, Canadians suffered a great loss. MP Gord Johns stood in the House today to share our grief over the soldiers who lost their lives and solidarity with those who were injured.
