One of the most valuable things sports & activities can teach is how to receive correction. Listen without immediately defending yourself. Ask a question if you don’t understand. Make the adjustment. Try again. Being coachable is a skill—valuable long after your school days.

A good practice plan shouldn’t just fill 90 minutes. Every drill should have a reason: teach a skill, reinforce a decision, prepare for a game situation or build confidence. When players understand the purpose behind the work, practice becomes more than repetition.

Interscholastic programs create moments students may not find anywhere else. - A chance to lead - Navigate disappointment - To be depended on - To represent something bigger than themselves (Community!) BIG part of the Interscholastic experience. Arguably the most memorable.

Rules are most effective when people understand more than what the rule says. Understanding why it exists— the problem it is designed to prevent—creates better decisions when situations aren’t perfectly black & white. That’s where rules education becomes especially valuable.

🇺🇸 250 years of America. Nearly 125 years of high school sports. For half of our nation’s history, education-based sports and activities have brought communities together and taught generations of students teamwork, perseverance, respect and resilience. High school sports are truly an American institution. Read The NFHS Report: nfhs.org/stories/high-school…

The best online education doesn’t try to teach everything. It identifies what the learner truly needs to know, makes it easy to understand, and gives them something they can actually use. The goal isn’t simply to deliver content. The goal is to create learning that sticks.

If you have a 4th of July Parade and you have the high school band involved, you have done your job well! 🇺🇸

The scoreboard matters. Competition matters. But the bigger question is this: Did the student have an experience that helped them grow, learn, and prepare to be a productive member of their community? That is the standard for education-based programs. Growth. Community.

A positive team culture does not happen by accident. It takes clear expectations, consistent communication, adult leadership, and a real commitment to putting students first. That work has to be intentional.

Coach education should not be viewed as a box to check. It should be viewed as part of the responsibility of leading students. The role of a coach is too important to rely only on past experience or good intentions.
