Last week was a busy National Tree Week for Madeleine Tate — helping at our undergraduate open day, attending Floodex in London, and planting trees with the North East Community Forest. A great mix of teaching, learning, and getting more trees in the ground! 🌳

We recently hosted students from @NorthumbriaUni on a tour of our living lab and the Green Infrastructure on the @newcastlehelix site. The tour focused on the multifunctionality of Green Infrastructure and our PhD Student @LeavesinGI presented her research with edible herbs

We've had a busy semester of teaching at the Facility. BSc, BEng, MSc and MEng Students have been running infiltration tests to learn how substrate and vegetation influence permeability

Following on from the recent sensor update,🌳Madeleine Tate spoke at a TDAG session, sharing insights from her project so far. It was great to hear from all the speakers — a recording of the session is now available! youtube.com/watch?v=ui2F90g7…
As part of Madeleine Tate’s PhD project, sensors including a sap flow meter were installed at NGIF. Early data shows how the tree is performing in relation to water. More monitoring sites are coming — watch this space for updates! @EngineeringNCL

Happy #IWED23 from this woman in engineering and her trusty porometer! Women still make up only around 16% of the engineering workforce, I hope this figure continues to rise. Proud to be a woman engineer for @CDTWire and @NGIF_UK
