FSA is opening a second Continuous Conservation Reserve Program batching period since acreage is still available after the initial deadline. Acreage is being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis so submit your offer no later than May 1.

Across Alaska's Matanuska Susitna Valley, as the population increases, so does pressure to develop farmland into housing or other non-agricultural uses. We've worked with farmers in the area to enroll portions of their farmland into permanent conservation easements to protect it.

During #NationalPecanMonth, we learn about three new pecan varieties that ARS scientists developed to address different needs for the pecan industry.
The Pueblo, Seneca, and Zuni pecans received patents in 2022 and began entry into the commercial industry, starting in 2024. Each pecan variety contains unique individual traits to include high yield potential, improved nut quality, and scab resistance – with each of the three varieties also proving ideal for pecan growers and producers in specific areas of the country.
